Merc'ing 101: How to Make It as a Mercenary and Still Stay in One Piece, Wed 8/20 Period 4

Murdock was looking very serious today as he strolled around the Danger Shop. "You ain't gonna be the only ones out there doin' this sorta work," he started off, "and someday, you might just wind up crossin' paths with another team." He stopped and looked over at each student. "It probably ain't gonna go well."

"Ever hear of the old adage 'honor among thieves'? Well, it don't apply to mercs. If the price is good enough, one team will have no qualms about takin' out another." He gave them all another swift glance. "Believe me, I know. The trick here isn't knowing when to be prepared, in this business that's always a given, but knowing how to get out of it. This is where your trust in your fellow teammates comes into play. 'Cause if you get caught," he crossed his arms over his chest, "chances are you ain't gettin' out on your own."

"So let's see what we can come up with, shall we?"

Nope. The victim didn't even appear to have noticed Bender had stolen from them. Still, it just wasn't classy to gloat over well-earned winnings where he, Bender, was in danger of getting punched.

He headed over toward a handy alley, discarding photos of children, keeping the cash. Bender was just pondering the driving license - wondering if he could pass as Maria Abadi, 27 - when the ground opened up beneath his feet.

Landing on his back with a splash, Bender groaned. Through the carefully opened manhole, a faint, "Aw, crap," could be heard.

Murdock just smirked. One down, three to go.

"Now figure out how to get out of there," he hollered.

A faint chuckle could probably be heard as well.

Bender had been in tougher prisons than this, so he was just grumpy - and not so quietly cursing anyone whose fault it was (Hint: Not his) - as he rubbed the dent on his head.

He'd gotten kinda stuck, but all he needed to do was stand up. And then find a way out. But first standing - he rocked slightly. Still stuck. Damn it.

[Open if someone wants to try help Bender get out, but fair warning, I'm going AFK for a few hours]
