Sam was tempted to skip out on the library today and explore the island's new location, but in the end, he figured he had all week to do that, and he didn't want anyone to get worried because he wasn't where they would assume he should be.

There weren't many books to be checked in, but that was balanced out by how much e-mail Sam had to get through.

Sam had cookies for Dean if he came by for lunch.

Sam took some time after lunch to go visit Ms. Garrett, and might have been a little later in getting back than he'd planned.

*drowns self in coffee*

It was significantly more difficult to manage as a wolf but some ingenuity and dexterity, combined with appropriate use of puppy eyes, and Dean was trotting into the library with a bag of burgers from the diner held in his mouth.

"You're not back to normal yet?" Sam said, frowning and leaning down to take the bag out of Dean's mouth. "Are you feeling okay? You know, all things considered. I don't think I even want to know how you got these."

Dean woofed and let his tongue loll out of his mouth in a wolf-grin. Then he looked pointedly at the bag. One of those burgers was for him.

He wasn't sweating about not changing back yet; last time he'd stayed fourlegged and furry a whole week. He wouldn't start freaking until the weekend.

"I hope it goes without saying that if you start feeling really weird, you should come to me," Sam said, peering into the bag. He pulled out both burgers, and unwrapped the one that looked rare. "If this one isn't yours, you're still the one eating it," he said as he set it down.

Dean snapped the burger up and had it gone in two bites. He then started eyeing Sammy's burger. Sure it was cooked a bit much but still...

Peter came in and looked around for Sam. It was, after all, the usual time.

When Sam came in, he wasn't looking where he was going, and almost walked right into Peter behind him. "Hey, sorry," he said quickly.

You'd think someone as tall as Sam would be hard not to notice, but Peter didn't have eyes in the back of his head. So there was startlement and stumbling and, not for the first time, quickly grabbing coffees with TK so they wouldn't spill.

Also not for the first time, Sam's immediate concern was Peter and not the coffee, so he reached out to try to grab him to keep him from falling. "Sorry, I'm really sorry," he said. "Are you okay?"

"Now, I think," Peter said, taking advantage of Sam's support to get his balance back. He reached for the coffee tray, holding it in his hand, which now had less chance of dropping it.

"So," he said, conversastionally, "any reason you felt like taking 3 years off my life?"

"I wasn't trying to," Sam said. "I was hoping to beat you back here."

"How'd that work out for you?" Peter asked, dryly.

"Not so well," Sam replied, smiling softly. "I didn't mean to try to hit you, really."

"I'll live," Peter said. "Where were you anyway?"

Sam followed the way Dean was looking, and shot him a dirty look before breaking off some of his burger and tossing it down onto the wrapper. "Remember, you're a wolf, not a pig," he said.

"Talking to one of my teachers. She's got all sorts of books about demons, and she let me look at some of them," Sam said.

Peter set the coffee and donuts out on the counter. "Anything good?"

"She's definitely got some interesting stuff," Sam said. "Her world is different than mine, so the demons are a little different too. Hopefully, she'll let me come by again so I can take more notes."

"You're just going to camp out there and never be seen again," Peter accused, good-naturedly.

"It doesn't do any good to get information if you're not going to use it. I'll have to come out eventually," Sam pointed out.

"I still think you'd get lost in all the paper," Peter said. "You'd better let me know when you go next time. That way if we don't see you for a few days I can come after you."

"Are you sure? You might not be able to follow the trail of papers I leave behind."

"I've got that hand-wavey thing that Bridge does," Peter said. "I could track you down."

"Anywhere I go, right?" Sam asked, smiling softly.

"Everywhere," Peter replied, smiling back. He handed Sam his donut.

Sam attributed the weird feeling in his stomach to the reminder that he wouldn't be able to get away from everyone if he really needed to, without Peter following him. Taking the donut and going back behind the desk provided a good start to his distraction though. "I won't get lost, I promise," he said.

"I appreciate your effort to save us all some time," Peter said. He sipped his coffee. "Frees us up for the fun things."

"What kind of fun things?" Sam asked.

"Not being lost?" Peter suggested. "Hanging out as best friends do? I hadn't really made plans. Figured we could play it by ear."

Dean pointedly ignored that as he delicately snapped up the offering of food. Then he sat back and stared at Sammy some more.

"Dude, you are not getting the rest of my burger. You won't starve," Sam said.

Sam laughed. "That does sound more fun than burying myself in demon lore, as helpful as that might be."

"I'm here to help," Peter said.

"I'll try not to knock you out along the way."

"I appreciate that," Peter said. "Especially since you nag me about using my healing."

"If you mean I nag you about using your powers more than you do, then yes, you're right," Sam said.

"Pretty much what I meant," Peter said. "See? I don't have to heal as much. Win/win."

Dean pouted and tried to look starving.

"Are you really that hungry?" Sam asked.

"You should still use your other powers more," Sam said. "To stay used to them."

Honestly, he probably wasn't, but Dean wasn't about to let that on to Sammy.

With a sigh, Sam dropped the rest of his burger onto the wrapper. "Here, take it," he said, picking up the cookies. "I'll just have to eat both of these."

"I'll use all of them," Peter said. "I just won't need to use healing more than I have to, with you not bumping into me."
