Tyler didn't seem especially inclined to chit-chat as he started class today, but that wasn't so far from his norm.

"All right," he said, once the students were all seated. "So you have a house -- decorated to your specifications -- and a job, and what you need is something to do in your down time. Drinking yourself into a coma is always a popular choice, and so is watching TV until your brain turns to goop. But on the off chance you need something more active to do and don't already spend all your time on the Internet arguing about plot holes in the new Z-Cases Movie, hobbies are good things. And knitting is a really popular hobby."

He held up a skein of gray yarn with knitting needles through it. "I learned to do this here. Eleven years ago, I could make a scarf. Right now, I can make a slightly better scarf. Here's how." He explained and demonstrated knitting, looking oddly proud of himself as he finished a few rows.

"The other popular thing to knit in Fandom, and I do not wanna know why, is dildo cozies." He held up one that looked like a very long, very skinny sock made from neon purple yarn. "There are patterns for those on your tables, should you feel so inspired."

"And that is it from me for the day, go ahead and knit. I'll be around."

"Don't make me come over there!" he threatened. Not that he would ,that would require getting up and showing his shorts again.

"As if you would!" she taunted him, leaning back in her chair and smirking.

"We're in class!" he grumbled, looking for an excuse to stay on his chair.

"Thank you for remembering that, Ichigo," Tyler interjected. He'd been letting this go, but it was getting ridiculous. "Look, I don't feel like giving out detentions, so please, save it. You can flirt after class."

"We're not flirting!"

The teacher was definitely smirking. "Sure looked like it from here."

Ichigo coloured brightly red, which really didn't go well with the hair or the shorts. He would have made a protest about how that wasn't flirting and he finally caught his breath. "We're not! She's a classmate!"

"Okay," Tyler said, in an elaborate tone of disbelief. "You're not flirting, then. Anyhow, you can talk, just ... keep it a little less likely to distract everyone else in the class. All right?"

He was preparing to step away.

Ichigo wasn't going to argue. Hell, he had shrunk down his seat, quite possibly wishing to disappear. He nodded mutely.

"Laaaame," Ino muttered rebelliously. "Ichigo get your ass over here and I'll show you how to knit, geez."

"I'm good here," he mumbled through gritted teeth, staring at his desk.

Flirting? He didn't need to flirt! Geez, why would he be flirting?

Geez, boys were so pathetic. They weren't flirting, obviously, so there was no need to get embarrassed all because the Tyler-sensei was blind.

"Have fun playing with your string," she smirked.

"I will!" he grumbled stubbornly, picking up his needles. Stupid thing.

Ino just smirked as she watched him from the corner of her eyes as she continued working on her pattern.

Ichigo? Still trying to set the first row up. It wasn't going very well, but he was NOT looking at Ino. Nope.

There was tittering coming from her, even though she wasn't looking directly at him.

He heard. If she'd been looking she might have noticed the jerk of his shoulders at the tittering. He glared at the yarn which ended up in knots again and he desperately wished this class could be over now.

A piece of paper got lobbed his way.

If he read it, he'd find: Seriously. I can show you how, geez.

Ichigo ignored it for a long moment, until he was sure that Tyler or anyone else hadn't seen it before he read it.

He sighed and crumbled it up. Stared at the mess on his desk that was supposed to become a scarf in the very, very far future.

Another sigh and then he got up, taking his stuff with him before he plopped down on the chair beside Ino. "Fine."

Victory was hers!

"Right then," she said, setting the start of her scarf down. "The first thing we've got to do is get all of that untangled."

"Scissors aren't an option, right?" he looked rather dejectedly at the tangle of yarn.

"No," she said, wrinkling her nose at him and picking at the yarn. "You'd waste a lot of yarn that way. Patience is key to untangling yarn."

"You're not going to go all life guru on me, are you?" he asked, picking at the yarn to try to get it untangled.

She sniffed. "No. But patience is something that's needed for sewing and knitting. You can't rush it."

"See? This is exactly why this isn't my thing," he complained, wondering if she'd notice if he did just cut off the thread.
