Thurviving Mad Thcientithtth [15.08]

The Danger Shop was a castle on a mountain, and overhead black clouds roiled, thunder crashing and lightning streaking out to light up the sky.

Igor was in his element. "Welcome to Uberwald!" he said, leading the students out onto the castle's battlements. "I hope everyone brought their lightning rodth, becauthe today you're going to bring your creatureth to life." Scraps yipped excitedly and bounced around Igor, as if sensing he'd soon have playmates, even if they were only solid holograms.

"Your creatureth from last week have been thtored, and you'll find them over there." He pointed. "Wire them up to your lightning rod, thtep far back, and wait. The power of the lightning will bring them to life! Don't get too attached, though, it will only latht as long as the clath."

Gavin was impressed. Even the meanest people back home didn't have bases as sinister as this place seemed.

Agnes looked around the landscape and wondered which way Lancre was from here. It was good to be back in the Ramtops, even if it was only just an illusion.

Jeff had secured his breasted guinea pig to a table. He had secured the lightening rod to the table.

He was now roughly fifty feet away, staring in demented fascination, and trying not to flee into any nearby closets. Even the turtle in his arms looked oddly cowed.

Gavin attached a lightning rod to his bird and took a few steps back, waiting.

When the lightning struck his bird and thing actually CHIRPED to life, he jumped. He hadn't actually thought it would work. The bird gawped and flapped its wings but it's head was big so it kept falling and hitting the ground.

Gavin just kept staring.

Jenny eyed her little winged lizard thing speculatively.

Then she rigged up her lightning rod setup, put her finger on the rod, and let rip. Why wait for the atmosphere to cooperate?

Agnes wired up her creation (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1844191.html?thread=115065567#t115065567) and stepped back. She was surprised when the lightning hit and it started moving, because it didn't FEEL as unnatural as it looked.

That's because you're its mommy. Enjoy the feeling -- it's not like you'll ever get to experience it the normal way.

The creature wobbled off the table and fell a few times trying to figure out how to work its extra limbs. Then it jumped up on Agnes, tiny wings flapping excitedly, as it licked her face and gave her a hug.

Then it overbalanced and fell over again.

"I think I'll call you Flopsy," Agnes told it.

Bender tugged a heavy woollen hat over his antennae and head. He grumbled as he strapped Leggy to the lightning, dodging back and staring at the sky, hoping not to get hit.

A bolt struck hard, and his creature attempted to scurry in three different directions, tugging at the straps with a claw.

Rodney set up his 'creature' and lightening rod as efficiently as possible so that he could get away from it that much quicker. He then took cover.

It wasn't long before it was struck and Rodney reluctantly peered through his hands to see the thing start to wobble around a bit. He was somewhat glad that it had worked, this was for a grade after all. Mostly, he was thinking about where the nearest bucket might be.

If it hadn't already been part of his plans, Rodney would have vowed at that moment that he was never going to be anyone's minion.

After getting over his fascination, Gavin let his bird loose. It flew a little but it was top heavy so it stayed mostly close to the ground and had to stop and take breaks every so often.

Flopsy, the clumsy monkey-armed dog with wings, scampered over to Gavin's bird and started poking at it and barking excitedly.

Gavin was there. And he still had all his ears.
