Lily had ~~handwavily~~ sent out an E-mail to her class telling them to meet in the Danger Shop today, which was set up to look pretty much exactly like your standard dorm floor. "Welcome back, and I'm really glad radio warns me about things like the fact that half my class might be an animal," she greeted them. "Today, we're going to play hide and seek.

"For those of you poor deprived people, one person's It. That person closes their eyes and counts to one hundred, and everyone else hides somewhere. This place is set up just like the dorms, so you can hide anywhere in here. At one hundred, the person who's It yells 'ready or not, here I come' and goes looking for everyone. The first person to get found is It for the next round then. Simple, right? Okay. Have fun!"

No example today, because I suck. Feel free to mod anything you'd find in a common room, and remember there are storage closets right in the hall, and a kitchen off there. Everyone ping in with a hiding place, whoever's It gets to pick who they find.

Gladys pondered a hiding place. This was not easy when you were seven foot tall and three foot wide.

After a moment, she went into the common room and hid behind the window curtains. Perhaps those feet were simply part of the wall, or an interesting ornament of some kind.

Francine remembered there being something that might be useful in the rec room, so she ran down the--- hahaha oh GOD why would you put real stairs in a hologram of the dorms? Couldn't they just add a fake elevator? Huff. Puff.

And on further review, good idea, bad idea.

Hiding behind the piano in the rec room if you're Katchoo's height and width: good idea.

Yet hiding behind the piano in the rec room she was. At least she didn't have antlers.

Liir decided to take one of the other curtains... and figured out something sneaky to boot.

He wrapped his legs around the broom, held on tight, and floated just high enough that nothing would show beneath.

He was good at hiding. It had been one of the best ways to avoid getting nearly killed when he was a child. Manek would be blue with envy if he'd had the broom back then, though.

The closet was the first place Sora went to to hide in. If he had been just a little smaller he would have tried under the sink.

At the end of class, an excessively jittery boy slipped into the room bearing a turtle. "...I brought my girlfriend," he blurted.

Lily blinked at him, then looked down at the turtle and said, "It'd be too easy if that was Turtle, wouldn't it?"

"Is it?" Jeff asked, trying and utterly failing not to jitter in public in a shellshocked kind of way, "I hadn't really thought about it."

Lily had to wonder what it was this kid had done wrong, with the way he acted. Or how many uppers he'd taken before this and whether that was safe when caring for a turtle. "So is that her?" she wondered, and maybe was trying to tell whether or not his eyes were dilated.

"It's Turtle," he agreed, with a nod that seemed pretty stable in comparison. "Who's a turtle right now, so I hope she can be excused. She takes her schoolwork very seriously, you know. Even as a turtle, although obviously doing homework gets a bit tricky."

"Hard to hold the pencil," she agreed. "Yeah, I won't count it against her. Turtles are probably really good at hide and seek but only if they can find a hiding place in time."

The turtle in Jeff's arms began to flail slowly, as if to protest the assumption that she couldn't move very fast. Jeff tried to combine clinging to her with shrugging his shoulder and managed it, albeit in an oddly lopsided kind of way. "Well, you know how it goes," he said, laughing nervously, "Turtles. They're a bit like snails, aren't they?"

That would've been something smacking him in the stomach. "Ow."

"Turtle, no kicking or I have to give a time out," Lily said automatically, then paused. "I really just threatened a turtle with a time out."

"I think," Jeff wheezed, doubling over in what he hoped was a turtle-friendly way, "...You did."

Kind of a little concerned for the doubled-over guy, she asked gently, "Do you want me to make her stand in the corner?"

"Oh, no, we're fine," he managed, trying to pull himself upright and everything. "See? Absolutely fine. We do this all the time. Well, usually she's not actually a turtle."

"Yeah, I've seen her normally," she reminded him.

"... I don't know," Jeff said, getting his back straight. "She could be a turtle here on a regular basis and have failed to tell me. I'm not saying she's a liar, but it could be possible." What was he talking about now?

And now Lily was back to wondering about the drugs. "What?"

What, Jeffrey? Why would she be a turtle? Stop talking. Just stop talking and leave-- "It's these childhood games, isn't it?" Jeff replied, making a big gesture that was supposed to indicate... um, something. "With all these children running about, it might be useful to be able to turn into a turtle." Pause. "Or a rock."

"...I think it'd be really hard to play Duck Duck Goose that way."

"It depends," Jeff said, scraping the bottom of the barrel, "On whether one of them has a beak." He had to get out of here. Just say goodbye and leave in a normal fashion. Like a normal person.

He raised his hand.

Unsure of what he was doing, Lily raised a hand back. Did he want a high five?

"...Oh, I'm sorry," Jeff managed, failing to lower his hand, "I didn't realise you had to go to the bathroom, too." What?

...Wow. "It's after class, you don't have to raise your hand or ask permission for that sort of thing. You just, you know, can't do it here."

"Oh," Jeff said, laughed nervously, and added, "Thanks!" before he turned on his heel and fled the room like a fleeing thing without another word.

Alice wandered into class near its end, a swallowtail butterfly sitting gently on her hand. "Ms. Aldrin?" she asked.

Omg I should sleep, shouldn't I?

IT COULD BE A THING.

AS LONG AS THERE IS FENCING TO BE HAD AT 1:30 IN THE MORNING, I SCORN SLEEP.

....I MISSED FENCING???

I finally had to crash at 1 am knowing I had to wake up in 4 hours for possible work and now I'm pissed about it. *g*
