Escape Artistry: Week 6, Period 3 (Thurs. 08/14)

As they entered the Danger Shop, students were provided with some fancy paintball guns (that looked shockingly like USAF submachine guns and sidearm handguns) and even fancier protective vests.

The Danger Shop had been converted to show the landscape of an alien planet that looked surprisingly like a forest in Vancouver with lots of trees and ground dense with vegetation. Ronon stood in a long brown leather coat with a sword strapped to his back in and area that looked like a large camp with little brown huts and fire pits. The camp was also dotted with angry, armed, brown homespun-clad men lurking on pause.

Once students seemed to be finished gearing up, Ronon pointed his thumb at the waiting natives. "These men want to kill you. The darts they're shooting act like your planet's paint balls. Once you're hit, you're out because they took you prisoner and fed you to some monsters. Your goal is to escape from this camp and make it two miles through the forest to the Ring of the Ancestors aka Stargate where you've gotta input a combination code and walk through the ring." If his eyes lingered on Teyla during this, it was so he wouldn't stare at Rodney. "The code's the seven symbols on the paper in your vest pocket." So helpfully planted ahead of time. "When the ring activates, you walk through and the game's over."

Ronon moved to turn on the simulation, turning back to add, "I recommend you work together. It's easier to dial home when someone's got your six." That someone was usually him. Ronon pressed some buttons and the natives started yelling, running, and firing darts at the class.

It was just like back home.

Eve put on a protective vest, grabbed a paintball gun and checked it, and was reminded just a little too much of a certain compound where she'd nearly become prey.

Let's just say she's ready to kick some homespun native ass.

Gwen started gearing up, feeling an odd sense of deja vu as she picked up the paintball gun.

Paintball! This was going to be fun.

Michael was grinning as he got kitted out.

Friday scrambled to put his vest on and figure out how the paintball gun worked. He was pretty hopeless at this sort of thing, but he was a teenage boy, so paintball class? Definitely making him grin.

The FIRST thing Sokka did was attempt to memorize that code, just in case. It would have been easier if he recognized any of the symbols, but he still tried.

After that, he checked over his weapons and made sure they were in working order. If they were pointed vaguely in Rodney's direction when he test-fired them, well, that was completely by accident.

Peter wondered if he needed to worry about getting hit considering he could heal.

Teyla took a little longer than usual to get ready because she was staring at the Ring. She knew it wasn't real, but she couldn't stop the ache she felt at how badly she wanted it to work for her.

Warren grabbed a vest and a gun. Sure. He hadn't ever had to fire a gun before, but that wasn't going to stop him from giving it his best shot.

Rodney geared up distractedly since he was mostly focused on this 'ring' thing and how it might function as a transportation device. He studied the code that was in his vest and was disappointed that he didn't recognize any of the chevrons symbols.

Alec suited up and was ready after double-checking for the piece of paper in his pocket. He seemed pretty self-assured about this particular task, though not entirely pleased about it.

Dick put on his vest and picked up his gun.

Guns: the one weapon type he never learned how to use.

As she got herself ready, Jaina for some reason thought she might be good at this. Especially when he mentioned the stuff about monsters.

Inara got herself ready, fumbling a bit with the unusual clothing and weapons. Still, she was a better-than-average archer, so maybe she wouldn't embarrass herself too badly.

Okay, this was gonna be awesome. Rikku was suiting up and checking the weight on the guns. Score.

Jamie made it out. He made it through without getting hit until he got that ring thing.

And... well he really liked that Kawoosh.

Enough so he kept opening and closing the gate just so it would "Kawoosh".

Annnnnnd... he got nailed by the natives because of it.

Friday did reasonably well for someone with no experience and heavy footsteps. Which is to say that he managed to stay 'alive' for about ten minutes until he stopped being stealthy and started moving towards the big ring. Then he got shot. Repeatedly.

Helen's here and rather fascinated by the whole thing. They never had guns when they were Walking the Bounds.

After losing (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1849734.html?thread=115336838#t115336838) quite a bit, Friday made his way towards Ronon. "What did I do wrong?"

This class amuses me greatly. Especially as I have the Stargate convention on the 22nd. Yaaay, Chicago! I <3 my city.
