The Right Tools, Tuesday Period Four

"We were going to talk blunt objects today," Kerrigan said to the class, looking distinctly annoyed. For one, all the sharp edges of her wings were covered in bubblewrap, and so was most of her hair.

She was not amused. "However, since the island seems to have this need to intervene with my plans, we're just going to take said blunt objects and divest them of bubblewrap."

She pointed at a series of staffs in the corner. They were all wrapped in the stuff. As were the tables, the board, and at least part of the floor. "Keep working until the bubbles go away," she muttered, "I don't care how you do it. Just get it out of my sight. See it as a practical exam."

"I don't dance," he said, shaking his head. "So, no. Better luck next time with that one."

"So I'm pretty sure you're not seeing anyone who's actually in my class, I'm going to take that's someone as impressed by your recent behaviour as I am," she said dryly, nodding at the bird.

"Did you listen to the radio?" Lee asked dryly. "If you did, you know the answer to that."

She rolled her eyes. "I was being rhetorical," she told him, "And speaking of which, I'll be expecting you in my office tomorrow."

Lee Adama had a date with a wall. She just had to pick one out.

"Wait, what?" Even Adah seemed to be interested in that. "What for?"

"The Dean wants me to discuss certain events with you," Kerrigan replied. Which wasn't strictly a lie, really.

"You told on me?" Lee asked, gaping.

"The D--" A pause. "Vice Principal is a personal friend of mine." It was hard to remember Harriet's new title, sometimes. "And she needs to know when there's issues with the students. I think this one falls under 'issue'." A pause. "Also, for god's sake, Adama, 'told on you'? We're not fourteen."

"It's not an issue," he grumbled. "It's done and finished. It's no longer anything really. And you did, you tattled."

"No, actually, you're not fourteen," she informed him, "You're five. And I'm a member of the faculty, in case you'd forgotten."

"Ow, stop pecking at my neck!" Lee told the bird on his shoulder. "Stop it!"

He shook that off and said, "So give me detention if you're going to punish me."

"The Vice Principal gave me very specific instructions," she replied, her face-- well, not quite the picture of innocence. It was a little hard with her complexion. "So tomorrow it is, Adama."

"This isn't fair," he said and got pecked for his troubles. "I've already gotten punished enough. I don't need more."

"Suck it up," she said, with a shrug, "After tomorrow, I'm out of your hair. Then all you'll have to deal with is the girlfriend."

"Besides the pecking, it's not so bad," he said. "I can deal with the pecking."

"You do know you're going to pay for that when she turns back, right?"

"I'm going to try to avoid that as best I can," he said. "I'd like to stay alive."

She smirked. "Keep on dreaming, Lee."

"She won't kill me," he said, batting away her good wing.
