The Right Tools, Tuesday Period Four

"We were going to talk blunt objects today," Kerrigan said to the class, looking distinctly annoyed. For one, all the sharp edges of her wings were covered in bubblewrap, and so was most of her hair.

She was not amused. "However, since the island seems to have this need to intervene with my plans, we're just going to take said blunt objects and divest them of bubblewrap."

She pointed at a series of staffs in the corner. They were all wrapped in the stuff. As were the tables, the board, and at least part of the floor. "Keep working until the bubbles go away," she muttered, "I don't care how you do it. Just get it out of my sight. See it as a practical exam."

"I, er, was just-- admiring your hair!" Jeff blurted, shoving the turtle in Kerrigan's general direction. Oh god. She had the hair, and she was green, she had a green arse and green breasts and she was gorgeous and she was going to kill him.

Why was he saying something about her hair? Why would he be saying something about her hair? Come on, Jeffrey! "--but I'm certain the rest of it matches the top."

"I mean you're not so bad, are you? Hair-wise, and..." He was not going to squeak. He was not going to squeak. He was going to say something sane, something sensible, and then he was going to tell her about Turtle and run away really fast. "...otherwise. Very admirable. Turtle thinks so!" He realised he was still holding up the turtle and pulled her back. "...and she's got really good judgement."

"...She's not a pig," Jeff spluttered, "She's a turtle. See?" He held up the turtle again. She waggled her feet-flipper-things in the air in a way that implied she was not at all pleased with this situation, and someone might possibly be losing their shins over this.

Jeff felt that looming sense of death approaching. Just stop talking, Jeffrey. Stop talking and walk away. "Although sometimes it can be easy to confuse them," he continued, stop talking, "It's just pigs are a bit more pink."

Jeff's own mouth didn't open again at all. He just gave her a curt, almost military nod, turned around, and raced out of the classroom, the turtle in his arms scrambling around for something to hold on to.
