The Right Tools, Tuesday Period Four

"We were going to talk blunt objects today," Kerrigan said to the class, looking distinctly annoyed. For one, all the sharp edges of her wings were covered in bubblewrap, and so was most of her hair.

She was not amused. "However, since the island seems to have this need to intervene with my plans, we're just going to take said blunt objects and divest them of bubblewrap."

She pointed at a series of staffs in the corner. They were all wrapped in the stuff. As were the tables, the board, and at least part of the floor. "Keep working until the bubbles go away," she muttered, "I don't care how you do it. Just get it out of my sight. See it as a practical exam."

[ wait for the ocd up! ]

Lee was still moving a little slowly and gingerly but this wasn't so hard so he grabbed a staff and started to work on the bubblewrap.

Adah left him alone...mostly.

Gwen took to popping bubble-wrap with no small amount of glee.

As Liir had had to remove the bubble wrap from his broom this morning, he was familiar enough with how to pull the nonsense off.

He dove in with the irritation of someone who'd never experienced the joy of popping the bubbles.

Jen grabbed a staff and, after a brief torrent of popping bubbles to get herself a decent grip on it, found a table in the corner away from everyone else and started whaling away.

Hard to tell if the look of glee on her face was due to the exercise itself or the glorious, wonderful, inexplicably happiness-inducing storm of bubble-popping that ensued.

Alice wasn't the type to sit and pop bubble-wrap. It made an interesting noise; so did many things.

Such as a vorpal blade, cleanly slicing through layers of bubble wrap in one pure stroke, leaving the layers to fall away with a light tug.

There was an art to it, pressing deep enough to get all the layers but not damage the staffs underneath. It took a few tries to perfect, but she was rather pleased with the results.

And somewhat itching for more targets. She rather hoped her teacher wouldn't be too upset by her impertinence, if she began slicing anything bubble-wrapped in her vicinity.

It had been far too long since her blade had sang for her.

Jack dug in his pockets, looking for something--a hah! His boot knife! There, in his boot!

He started hacking at the bubblewrapped items, trying to see what was underneath. Huh. It's a stick.

Hoshi found this to be rather enjoyable.
