Roving the Galaxy - Friday, Period 4 (Week 5)

When the students arrived, they were separated into groups of 3 (and one group of four if raccoon-Kaylee was there) and put into your standard prison cell with bars, a barred window, brick walls, a sink, a toilet and bunk beds. The Doctor locked each cell door and pocketed the key. "Today's topic is 'so you're a prisoner'. It's what usually happens when you fail to keep a low profile, aren't fast enough figuring out that something isn't right and failed at polite conversation. So if you mess up everything this workshop has taught you so far, you'll at least have a chance to try to get out. Not all jails will be this simple, but it's a fairly common set-up, so let's go with it. Go on then. Try to escape. The bars won't react to weapons or temperature changes and can't be ripped out, so you'll have to be creative. I'll be over here if you need me." He took a seat at the end of the corridor.

Sokka kicked back and laid down on one of the beds. "I don't suppose anyone's got a lemur?" he asked.

"I don't think a lemur is going to do a lot." Ender's tone was a little dismissive. He was eyeing the bars, and he was thinking.

And also considering the sink. And the toilet. And the make-up of the beds. He missed Bean like a limb right now.

Sokka peered at Ender from the bed. "It's not? A little friend who can slip through the bars and grab the guard's key ISN'T going to do a lot?"

Sokka sighed painfully. "I miss Momo."

Ender took a moment out of his busy consideration of the available objects to note, "It'd have to be a trained lemur, at the very least. And since we don't have one, I think we can rule that out."

"Not trained, just really smart. I used to have one. -- At least, my friend did."

Sokka looked around the cell. "I've got a cunning plan to escape, but it involves waiting around for a bit."

Jamie had been sitting at the back of the cell looking on with amusement.

"Well how about if I just go outside the cell right now and let you guys out?"

Sokka blinked at Jamie for a moment, and then smacked himself in the forehead. "Or, we could try it that way," he agreed. "Ooh! And I can help, too!"

He scurried over to the door and, with his face screwed up in intense concentration, created a shadow clone on the other side of the bars. The second Sokka motioned for Jamie to follow.

Jamie ambled over to the door.

Yawned.

Stomped his foot once creating a dupe on the other side of the door and went back to his bunk.

"Okay. Go find the keys," Jamie said in a bored tone.

The dupe cocked his head at that. "Well... why? What's the point? Maybe we deserve to be in jail."

Jamie sighed. "Sokka? Can your shadow thingy smack him please?"

Sokka, still concentrating as hard as he could, nodded.

The shadow clone grinned, smacked the dupe, and promptly dissolved into smoke.

Sokka opened one eye and peered at the spot the shadow clone had been standing in. "I should probably practice that more, huh?"

"Or a genetic mutation," Jamie sighed and turned to the dupe.

"C'mon. Go open the door. Quick before the guards get here."

"What's the point of it?" The dupe said slumping down against the wall. "A billion years from now the world is going to end and all we did was try to go to class about escaping prisons. It all means nothing."

Jamie groaned. "Greeaaaat."

"Great. Sure. Go ahead and believe that. I believe that a billion years from now the world is going to be covered by Grape Judas Squishy, but only -- and this is key -- only if you OPEN THE STUPID DOOR!!!"

Re: Cell 1

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2008-08-08 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure. It'll be covered by Grape Judas. Because of our pollution," the dupe said sinking further into despair.

Sokka grasped desperately for more things that he knew Jamie liked. "Grape Judas, and... And Stickbugs, and pranks, and naked girls, and..."

He shrugged and looked over at the real Jamie. "Can't you just absorb him and make a better one?"

Re: Cell 1

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2008-08-08 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure," Jamie said absorbing the dupe and trying again.

The new dupe looked around the hallway and shrugged. "Anybody hungry? I could really go for a burger right now."

Sokka facepalmed.

"Let us out, and I'll buy you one," he tried.

"No way. Burger first," The dupe demanded.

Jamie face-palmed and then starting beating his head against the wall.

"I can't buy you a burger FROM IN HERE!!!" Sokka screamed.

He flopped back down on the bed. "All in favor of the wait-until-class-is-over plan of escape?"

The dupe held up his hand in order to vote.

"You don't count!" Jamie argued and opened up his wallet and threw him five bucks.

"There. Now go find keys. Or something."

"Class'll be over by the time he finishes the burger and comes back," Sokka pointed out with a chuckle.
