Basic Cryptozoology - Wednesday - First Period - 7/30

Lucky for her class, Abigail Irene Garrett was in fact in a lovely mood for the day. She had a date set for Friday, there was a play on the island which sounded very interesting, and her patchwork terrier Mike was up on her desk, insisting on getting a scritch from under her hand.

"Today, as I told you last week, I'll be asking each of you to present a few minutes on the subject of a creature, perhaps a cryptid, from your own world. I'll start things off for all of us...

[ocd up!]

"We don't really classify these kind of things that way where I come from," Jo said. "But if I had to say... they're always corporeal, and they didn't start out as people, so whatever tangible non-humans fall under I guess."

"Where they fit in the lore, mostly, groups of stories, that kind of thing" Jo said. "Usually you only find out about them when they're killing people, and the scientific method isn't exactly a high priority about then."

"Not exactly," Jo said. "I'm all for figuring out the best way to put something down before innocent people end up kibble. The problem's more on the acquiring a scientific understanding without something eating your spleen mid-experiment side of things."

Jo nodded. "Different creatures are affected by different things. There's some overlap here and there. Not the kind of thing you want to leave up to trial and error though."

"Being the one who survived," Jo said with complete and utter seriousness. "And then making sure other hunters knew."
