Basic Auto Mechanics, Session 3, Tuesday period 1

When the students entered they found the place set up as a rather large garage with a work area set up for each of them complete with equipment and car.

"Good morning," John greeted them. "Today we're going to cover one of the basics of car maintainance -- namely changing the oil. I'm going to walk you through the steps and then it'll be your turn to try." He demonstrated on the car that looked a lot like a certain 67 chevy impala.

"And that's how it's done," he said when he finished, wiping his hands off on a cloth. "Now it's your turn to try."

"This isn't your real car, right?" Inara asked as she tied back her hair and pushed up her sleeves so nothing would get caught in the engine.

"It's a Danger Shop simulation," John assured her. "And the actual car isn't mine anymore either. I gave it to Dean for his 16th birthday."

Well, that was more of a relief. Still, she thought she knew men and their vehicles. "Do you miss it?"

She set the oil and funnel on top of the engine once she'd opened the hood and propped it up, then got down on her hands and knees to get under the car. Having people to talk to actually kept her from thinking too much about what she was doing.
