Underwater Basketweaving as a Metaphor for Organising Your Life -- Tuesday, Period 2

Class had been handwavily informed that they were meeting not in the classroom, but by the pool. "Welcome," Lulu said. "We're not getting into the pool today, but Professor Mizrahi and I thought it best that we meet here on a regular basis, to keep the environment consistent." She smiled. "To those who don't know me, I am Professor Lulu. Today will be fairly simple," she continued, as she gestured for the students to sit on the floor; she folded herself down as Juli did the same.

Juli picked up the lecture, all but resigned to actually having to teach this class now. "As we’ll be meeting at the pool in the following weeks, you are all advised that appropriate swimwear is rather… necessary.” Though, really, if they hadn’t figured that out from the name of the class…. “Continuing the trend of the first week, we’ll be introducing ourselves today. As Professor Lulu mentioned, I am Professor Mizrahi. I’m aware that for some of you this is terribly repetitive, but neither of us recognize some of you, and it’s likely that there are some of you who don't know each other as well. It's very simple: state your name, your class, what experience you have in either swimming or basket weaving, if any, and one interesting thing about yourself."

"We'll be using your experience levels to help gauge the future classes, so please do be accurate," Lulu said. "Exaggeration and inopportune modesty help no one."

Considering that he was being pointed at by two (well, three, really) things, and considering the professors involved in this particular class, Jeff opened his mouth.

And squeaked.

Juli... sighed. This one she knew. "Yes, Mr. Murdock? Was there something?"

Sokka raised a hand. "Miss Lulu, I think what Jeff is trying to say is that he'd like for you to cast a spell."

"My name is Sokka
And I can swim faster than a croc-a
You'll never find me sinking like a rock-a
And when I try to weave a basket I get schlock-a!

Word."

Alright, it seemed this class was... special.

This one, at least, amused her. "And how long did it take you to come up with that?"

"My name is Lion-o, I'm a freshman, and I like swimming, but I've never tried basket-weaving before," he said. "Oh, and one day I'm going to be the Lord of the Thundercats, but that won't happen for a long time. Not until my dad dies, and there's one more person ahead of me anyway."

"Thundercats?" she asked curiously. "Do you use lightning then?"

"Hi, I'm Summer," she told the class. "I'm a senior and I'm a pretty good swimmer. I grew up in a beach town, so I better be, right? Anyway, I have no basket-weaving experience at all. Something interesting? I vanquished a demon just by stepping on it."

Juli nodded, making note of the fact that they had far more swimmers than weavers. "A demon?"

"I don't swim much but I haven't drowned yet, and weaving's just like bending really narrow girders, right?" Bender announced, before folding his arms and leaning back against the wall. "I'm Bender, a senior and built in sunny Tijuana."

"How much swimming is 'not much'?" Juli asked him.

"My name's Giselle," Giselle said earnestly. "I enjoyed Professor Mizrahi's class so much last time that I was just so happy to be in her class again. I can swim, of course, but I like sewing and weaving better than making baskets." She shook her head. "My baskets never looked as good as the ones my bird friends made for their chicks."

"I'm Harry. I can swim, I've never tried weaving anything. And I'm a wizard."

"I'm Chris Halliwell. I'm coming into my senior year. I've gone swimming a lot, but never in any serious way. I don't know anything about basket-weaving. And what's unique about me is that I'm half witch, half whitelighter. And my mun fails at reading apparently since she missed this post yesterday."

"Hi, I'm Bender," Bender extended an arm. "Me. Bender. Over here."

When he'd got someone's attention. "Yeah, the bathing suit. Do we have to wear it?"

"Bathing suits are a required part of the course, yes," Juli informed him.
