Detention [Saturday]

All of the students who'd earned or been given detention had been told to meet Fraser outside of the Danger Shop. And that's precisely where he was.

"Good morning," he said pleasantly. "I trust you all slept well and I thank you for being on time. Please enter the Danger Shop."

It is now seven-oh-six. You have exactly eight hours and fifty-four minutes four hours and fifty four minutes to think about why you're here. To ponder the error of your ways and you may not talk. You will not move from these seats and you will not sleep.

"Before you begin your detention," Fraser said, looking down at them, "I would like to hope that we never meet again in this circumstance. I once met an Inuit elder who said that, those who get into trouble once learn from their mistakes. Those who get into trouble twice obviously have hard heads and deserve whatever trouble comes at them next."

He smiled and then gathered up each person's snacks before shooing them into the Danger Shop library.

Lois? So not writing an essay. Even if she had done something to deserve it (which she didn't) she literally would not be able to write with her cast on.

So instead she stuck her pencil down her cast and used it as a nice wrist scratcher.

"You letting people write on your cast or going for the smooth, clean look?"

"I am all about people signing it," Lois said, tilting her cast to the side so he could see Jaina, Ned and John's signatures. She fished around in her pocket for the marker she stole from the clinic. "Got a marker and everything."

He reached across for the marker and held his hand out for it. Yes, he would still have to get up and come over closer to sign it, but laziness worked well for him so he wasn't moving until he had to.

Lois chuckled and stretched out her good arm so she could hand him the marker. "Lazy."

Friday gave her a lopsided grin, then grabbed the marker and stood up. He walked over to her desk and sat on the edge of it and offered his hand so she could put the arm with the cast in it so he could sign it.

Noticing Friday having signed the cast, Cal tilted his head at Lois and asked, "Want another one? Mine won't even take up too much room."

Unless he included his last name, but there weren't any other Cals in the school, so he figured he'd be okay with just that.

"Take all the room you like," Lois said, handing Cal the marker. "Just try not to draw any naked people on there."

Re: Essay

[identity profile] not-a-mused.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, well," Cal threw up his hands uselessly before shifting over to take up the marker, "there goes my whole plan."

No, no naked people, although now he wished he'd thought of it, and he just scribbled on a nice, sprawling "CAL" with a cursive that he'd been practicing in making more loose and uninhibited, trying to break away from the tighter, neater penmanship of a more feminine age. There was always a little bit of sadness when he signed his name; he missed the playful little circle he could use to dot his i when it was Callie.

"There. Now you'll have to keep it for when I'm famous and you can say you knew me."

Lois chuckled. "I shall cherish it forever."

Cal gave a firm, approving nod, handing the marker back to Lois. "As you should."

John tried to catch Lois' eye to smile and tap the side of his head to show off his newly regrown hair. To say he was quite happy about this turn of events would be an understatement.

Re: Essay

Lois had to do a double-take when she saw John's hair. "Oh my god. That's amazing."

Re: Essay

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Isn't it?" John grinned. "Worked like magic or something."

"Maybe you're part lizard or something. Have you ever cut off a finger and have it grow back?" she asked.

Re: Essay

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
John stared as if to consider. "Yeah, I'm not trying that, thanks."

"You know," she noted, "there's people around the school who could probably heal that for you."

A beat.

"Unless you're just keeping it for the signatures."

Re: Essay

[identity profile] armybrat-lois.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've heard there's a couple of kids around here who can do that," Lois said. "But if my dad ever found out that I took the easy way out he'd probably come here personally to lecture me about how I should have sucked it up and take the pain like a man...er...woman."

"And, you know, the signatures are cool too," she said. She held out her marker. "Wanna sign?"
intraspective: (are you REALLY sure)

Re: Essay

"Natural healing is good too," she said, "because, yeah, you get used to dealing with the pain. I was just checking if you knew that this place had the option. Lot's don't like to wait."

"I'll totally sign," Ino grinned, reaching out for the marker. "Got any problems with a little flower being doodled on it too?"

Ino snickered, taking the marker. "Yeah, no. Not drawing any of that."

At some point a wadded up ball of paper went flying towards Lois. Because Jaina was told to, yes. Look, she was bored.

Re: Essay

[identity profile] armybrat-lois.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It took Lois a second to figure out where the hell that came from. There was a lot of suspicious looking people in here. Finally she looked over at Jaina. She lifted up her cast. "You do realize you're messing with a lady with a weapon, right?"
