Barney liked just talking when he felt like it rather than waiting for students to shut up and pay attention to him. This was probably because he always assumed they were paying attention to him. "How far man has come from cave dwellers who picked a prime steak by clubbing her on the head and dragging her home to leaving a voicemail requesting a hook up. It's all about language and communication. And sex, of course."

It was much nicer all the way around, Tink thought. Especially if you had very cute hair and didn't want it messed up by all that icky head-dragging. Didn't Tink have very nice hair? She personally thought her bun was very chic today. It was always stylish, but it had an extra zing right now. Had he noticed?

"Your hair is telling people how incredibly hot you are and that it would be their pleasure to buy you a drink and take you home for some horizontal R&R," Barney told her.

Oh, oh he was ever so charming! This happy wriggle of hers said that he was ever so charming. Did they see that, children? Communication! She didn't need a boring stupid voice to be eloquent and magnificent! He didn't need jingly bell noises in order to flirt! Flirting was universal!

"Excellent point, Ms. Bell. Which is why we're having you students attempt to make a date with someone here in class without speaking in any formalized language." Barney was rather proud of this idea.

Body language, students! Body language was essential when you were dealing with interdimensional beings! No one had time to memorize four thousand different languages, and if you met someone hot at a bar, you would need to know how to communicate. How to convey very basic ideas such as "so, you wanna get naked?" and "you're not a hooker, are you?" and "you don't have Space Herpes, right?"

"All necessary and valid questions. So pair off, hook up, but remember, no 'language!'" Barney loved him some air quotes.

Except the language of loooooove. Or drunken regrettable hook-ups. Close enough! Now go!

Mac arched an eyebrow, smirking at him a moment before giving him a quick wink.

Sokka smirked back and waggled his eyebrows. Yeah, she knew she wanted him.

This assignment was just starting to get amusing.

She grinned, and gave her best 'come hither' look. The effect may not have been that great, but she was trying.

Sokka's eyes smoldered and he licked his lips as he gave her his best 'No, you come hither' look.

Well, then it looked like they were at an impasse, because she was quite happy where she was. Men were the ones supposed to do this chasing thing.

Stubborn girl.

She settled for smuldering looks. Or, attempts at, at least.

Sokka sighed and stretched, showing off -- well, his shirt, really, but pretend she could see those taut, stringy abs.

If she wasn't going to come fall at his feet, she'd just have to settle for ogling.

Ron responded with a glare and a scowl.

Sokka looked at Ron quizzically, confused by his odd reaction to the class assignment.

Ron crossed his arms and scowled some more.

Possibly sulked.

Sokka looked from Ron to Mac and back again... And grinned. He gave Ron two thumbs up and tried to indicate with hand gestures that he should kiss Mac.

Ron stared at Sokka and made hand gestures back that in no way he was ever going to kiss him.

Sokka facepalmed. No, Mac! MAC! Sokka pointed at Ron, and then gestured towards her. He should totally make out with Mac in class.

Ron gestured that he planned to kiss her but never in front of Barney or Tink.

Either that or he meant that Barney should bunt and Tink should steal second base.

Sokka stared at him. Honestly, what WAS it with people trying to get him to fondly Stinson today?

He tried to gesture back that there was no way he was touching Stinson, and Ms. Bell was far too tiny to hit on.

Ron gestured back that if he wanted to touch Stinson that was his own business but he was quite all right with Sokka beating up Tink even if she was too small.

Sokka waved his arms at Mac, trying to convey that Ron really shouldn't be so interested in groping Stinson when he had a girl right there waiting for him.
