Journalism Class - Thursday October 6

Spider looks like he hasn't slept in a week, and has obviously been chain-smoking with his cat. If he had hair, he'd be in the middle of a bad hair day. Even his tattoos look like they hurt. He has a giant vat of coffee on the edge of his paper-strewn desk, there are take-out boxes everywhere, and he's muttering pretty much constantly under his breath.

The back of the room has fresh coffee with all the fixings, gourmet snacks and tidbits and the screens are running playback feed from last night's debate.

Again, on the screen behind him, there's a message:

Today - Villians. Discuss. Yadda Yadda. Tomorrow we'll be doing a class project tying all three themes together. Double credit.

((OOC: The player is aware that there have been four themes. Spider is just very tired.))

"Hey Chihaya." Beka smiles. Her voice is soft and carries the unspoken question of 'is my new friend still speaking to me'?

Hearing his name, Chihaya turned to find the speaker. He smiled quite largely at her. "Beka! Hi!" He turned further in his desk so he could talk to her. "How are you doing? Did the debate go ok last night? I wanted to go but got caught on the phone home."

Beka grinned at Chihaya. He never failed to make her feel better. "Hi yourself. The debates went fine. I said a few outrageous things...as always." The memory of her 'favorite song' made her want to giggle, as if she did such things. "But I think it went well. There's another event tonight...are you going?"

"For the write-in candidates, right? Yeah. I'm going to try to be there," he said brightly. "I've never actually been a part of this process before, this voting. It's very interesting."

"Yeah. For the write-in candidates. I expect it to be much more revealing than last night. Want the truth? I hate politics, and politicians." She shakes her head sadly. "I can't believe I'm trying to be one."

"You're being part of the solution," Chihaya offered as an explanation. "A wise man said 'if you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem' or something like that. I think that's cool!."

[identity profile] valentine-tart.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Beka shakes her head and smiles wryly. "You're a ray of starshine, Chi. Most days, I think I am the problem."

[identity profile] positive-angel.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't think so. You are really nice! How could you be a problem?" he asked, quite seriously not understanding.

[identity profile] valentine-tart.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Beka shrugged. "Because I don't take no for an answer very well." Then she smiled. "No worries, Chi. The debates have me thinking too much. That's all."

[identity profile] positive-angel.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"It just means you are persistant!" Chihaya wouldn't be put off by that. "And it's good the debates are making people think," he nodded energetically.

[identity profile] valentine-tart.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"You have a uniquely positive attitude. It's new for me. But I'm learning to appreciate it. You're right. It is good." She smiles, utterly baffled by his persistent good cheer, but amused and pleased that he thinks well of her.

"I've been told I was very good at my job," he said proudly.

[identity profile] valentine-tart.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Job?" she looked at him, clearly bemused.

[identity profile] positive-angel.livejournal.com 2005-10-06 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hm?" Chihaya looked at her and then laughed. "I used to report on, um," he wasn't sure how to put it. Kagetsuya would be so mad at him for talking about himself like this. If he would only understand there were more students at this school that could do even more wonderful things than Chihaya could ever dream of...he would understand.

"I used to have to compile reports on the positive things Earthiiaaaa...humans did."

[identity profile] valentine-tart.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Beka cocked her head and wondered if it would be prying to ask whom he reported to. Nah, they could talk about it more another time. But the Earth thing was funny. "Chi, you know I'm from 3500 years in this or a parallel future and I've never lived on a planet before now, right?"
