Basic Auto Mechanics, session 6, Monday period 4

"Good afternoon," John greeted the students when they all filed into the danger shop garage. "I'd half feared we'd end up having to discuss getting volcanic ash out of a car's systems, but it looks like that's no longer a problem. So today we're going to look at changing wiper blades and replacing the fluid in your car's coolant system." He demonstrated both procedures.

"As a final cautionary note -- be very careful with the antifreeze, store it somewhere safe and clean up any spills you might have. It's very poisonous but doesn't taste that way, so pets and young children may be at risk if you don't." He looked around. "That being said, it's your turn."

Lois listened to the lecture closely and couldn't help but wonder if her teacher knew that his son was a drag queen. What? That's what the squirrels said!

Michael was listening as intently as usual.

Man, now she was kinda curious what antifreeze did taste like.

Lois had little trouble with the assignment. She could understand why the antifreeze would be tempting for kids. It did kind of look tasty. In a whole toxic, gamma radiation sort of way.

Kevin should have figured they would just be doing basic stuff in Basic Auto Mechanics, but he had hoped to learn something new. Totally bored, he took of his shirt and rubbed a little grease on his chest because it looked hot.

...Simple enough. Cal went about the tasks for today, his confidence with the whole thing eased along by the fact that, hey, even he could learn how to take care of a car if you paid enough attention, really.

Dick was so very tempted to let the wiper arm snap back without the blade on it to see if it would crack the windshield. Sooooo tempted. But he didn't do it, vowing instead to use it on a criminal's car back in Gotham at some point.

He also changed the coolant. He wasn't tempted to drink any, though. One temptation per class was enough.

This was pretty easy. Michael just got on with it.

Rikku changed the fluids and did not, in fact, chug any of the antifreeze. Tempting though it may have been.
