Galactic Vacationing [Wednesday, Period Five]

This afternoon the class would have noticed that the Doctor was nowhere in sight. The more observant would also have noticed that the Danger Shop was set up in an unholy combination of space-age tiki bar and seraglio with Seely leaning against the bar chatting to one of the many scantily-clad, brightly-coloured patrons.

He straightened when he saw the class. "I'm afraid that the Doctor can't be here today," he said. "And I couldn't make sense of his lesson plan, so instead of going to a Welsh gravel quarry, we're going to be doing something a little more exotic."

He grinned broadly as he gestured around the room. "As anyone whose ever watched Galaxy Quest or Space Battles knows, the universe is full of places like this, and people like these, so you're going to practice dealing with the natives. They're very friendly, so it shouldn't be hard."

The girl grinned back. "Hi Michael, I'm-" she replied with a long string of unpronounceable syllables. "But you can call me Pam."

"No, but I spend so much time here I might as well," Pam said. "There's not much else to do around here."

"Yeah?" he asked, eyebrows raised. "No beach or anything?"

"But planets have beaches", he pointed out, amused. "And beaches go good with bikinis. Not that bars don't."

Just not the New Mexico bars he's used to, generally. The few women there tend to wear less.
