Paranoia & First Aid, Period 3, 11 Jun '08

The stacks of bandages on the desks probably made this workshop topic obvious. Mohinder picked up one of the rolls and twisted the ends in his fingers.

"Blood and broken bones are some of the most obvious signs of injuries. Not that internal bleeding can't be life threatening, but that's a problem requiring more medical intervention." He glanced around the classroom, before continuing, "I'm sure you've experienced minor injuries, where the blood loss stops automatically," and going on to describe bandaging techniques.

"Bones can be broken in a simple or compound fracture," Mohinder described the possibilities. "And, depending on the site and complexity of the break, they can take months and medical intervention to fully repair, where something as simple as a broken nose will heal on its own. With broken arms or legs splinting and immobilising the limb is the first step," he summarised.

"Now try it for yourselves."

[OCD is up!]

Gavin took a few notes and added a few questions to those notes just so he could look them up later.

Gavin examined some bandages and splints but really, really thought this planet could use some bacta.

He put one of the bandages on his own arm and ran into the OW HAIR problem when he tried to take it off.

Grabbing some bandages, Johnny wrapped them around his head.

He might have been considering the possibility of setting them on fire. You know, just for fun.

Adam took a look at all of the bandages and splints available and then picked up a couple to practice with.

Adah had chosen to participate a little today. Not because she needed practice with bandaging. Quite the contrary, actually. She just wanted to look idle and bored while expertly showing off her ability to bandage someone up exceptionally well considering it was only one with one hand.
