Networking to Success, Class 5, Wed, Period 1 (6/11/08)

"We're doing a little arts and crafts today," Nathan said after the students had filed thanks to handwavey notice into the computer lab. He held up an example of what they were going to do. "Business cards. You go, you meet people, you want to give them your card. This is what represents you after the handshake is long gone. You want something that conveys who you are. If you're artistic, you want something creative. Night club operator? Something edgy. More traditional job?" Nathan gestured towards himself. "Elegant and classic.

"For information stick to the basics. Name, title, company, contact information." Nathan copies of his own card from the DA's office to show them. "Feel free to make up the details for now. You all have a program set up on the computers. Have a fun with it. Though remember: font choice is everything."

Chris listened to the lecture and started doodling some designs.

Ohhh, now this was something she could do.

Mac ignored the computers around her and pulled out her MacBook to make her business cards instead. She liked what she knew.

Romeo listened, then set to designing the card that would have been his if he'd gone to work for his father.

"Junior Executive" seemed a vague enough title.

Liz listened carefully to the lecture and then she began working on her business cards. Her cards were actually very similar to the BPRD ones.

Turtle, of course, already had very nice business cards. They were sleek and sharp and very professional, with a dark green text and clean border. However, she felt it wouldn't hurt to update them a little, although the new design might have been practically the exact same thing.

Cimorene spent most of her time trying to get the computer to do what she wanted. At points, this involved poking at the computer screen gingerly.

Brooke immediately started having ideas, but refrained from bouncing in her seat. Too much, anyway.

Dick had some business cards already - shock - but that didn't stop him from making a new one (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/theusual/FH%20Postings/dicksbusinesscard.jpg).

This reminds me that I need to order business cards that proclaim that I am an accounting student. Of all the weird things our school gives us for free...
