Blending In: Class 4, Period 3

Aly wasn't upset the island had decided to move.  Really.  She totally hadn't planned an entire class around 'blending in France.'

So inside she asked the class to meet her in the Danger Shop which was currently a tavern of the sort one would find in just about any Tortall town.  That is to say vaguely medieval, filled with barmaids and lower more scruffy sorts mixed in with a few fine gentlemen slumming it and a mix of craftsmen drinking, eating or otherwise engaged.  If anyone was familiar, this particular tavern looked a good bit like the old Dancing Dove in Corus, but few other than Aly probably realised.

Aly leaned against one of the walls, watching the students.  "Today we're going to practce fitting in to a place that most of you might be a bit unfamiliar with - those who are?  You have an easy week.  Enjoy it.  The name of this tavern is the Dancing Dove, and what I want you to do is dress the part after seeing what the other patrons are using.  Try to blend in with the patrons, don't start a fight, and find out who Rispah is.  Pair up or go on your own."

She grinned.  "Questions?"

[OOC:  Please wait for the OCD is up, more information will be in there!]

Clearly, she hadn't heard him. Because if she had and was ignoring him, he would be caught under this table in ... wherever this was, until either the crowd died down or he had courage enough to walk through the room naked.

Not that he was sure exactly what Yurika could do about these options.

He sighed and hissed her name again, augmenting it with a poke at her ankles.

She swung her feet lightly, as if bored. If that kicked whatever the hell was poking her, all the better.

If he it raised a fuss or caused a commotion, so help her, she was going to scream her head off.

"Ow!" came from under the table, but softly, Romeo's feelings being hurt more than the arm her foot had collided with.

It was clear that, for reasons of her own, Yurika was either unable or unwilling to help him just then. Maybe this tavern they were in was dangerous; maybe she just didn't know what she could do.

Either way, Romeo lapsed into silence as he weighed his escape options.

Judging by the sound of the sulking, yes, it was confirmed. She had a Romeo under her table.

...

She was going to be a softie, wasn't she? Kuso.

Sighing, Yurika fanned herself slightly before taking off her shawl and setting it on the chair next to her. Where people under the table could possible grab it without being seen. Possibly. The rest was up to him.

The person under the table interrupted his sulk for long enough to grab the fringe of the shawl, yank it down, and tie it into a loincloth. "Thank you," he said, with as much dignity as a half-naked former shrew could muster, and popped up until he was seated.

Bare-chested, but still, the important bits were covered. "Please, if you tell me where we are and then I shall go find more suitable apparel."

"If I knew the Dancing Dove was so entertaining, I would have asked Aly to send me here earlier," she said, leaning back and smirking at the shirtlessness. As far as she was concerned, it was her reward for all of the last few days.

"I'm sure you can find what you're looking for here," Dōjima continued, inclining her head towards the door she had entered from. Hopefully it still lead back into the Danger Shop, and he could get some clothes. "Although if you sit here long enough, whatever you want might come to you." She looked over his shoulder to smirk at the barmaids. "Sooner rather than later."

Romeo furrowed his brow in thought for a moment, then things started to click into place.

Aly meant they were in class. (Which meant this was Tuesday, but he'd deal with that bit of news later.)

The door was a place with clothes. It had to be.

A grin blossomed across his face. "I think I shall seek my fortune on my own, rather than waiting for it to fall to me. They say that lady favors the bold." Besides, he was getting cold. "I will attend to thee later, my beloved."

He had a strange feeling he owed her, after all.

"'Attend to me', huh?" she purred, grinning as he figured it out. "I'll be looking forward to it."

"Not nearly so much as I am," he told her, then rose from the table, firmly gripping the shawl around himself as he headed for the door.

She was supposed to be blending, finding this Rispha for Aly-sensei.

However sometimes Dōjima was very, very shallow, and she couldn't help but tilt her head and admire the view as he left.

What? Every other woman in the bar was probably doing the same thing. It was blending. Honest.
