There were ice baths set up at each Danger Shop lab station today, and Tyler tossed goggles and gloves at each student as they came in. He folded his arms and waited for the class to settle before beginning.

Then he reached onto his desk and held up a container of clear, thick stuff. "So this," he said, "is the extra glycerin from the soap we made the first week. And now it's time to get to the fun part and make it nitroglycerin."

He pointed out two vials on his desk. "This is nitric acid. The big one is sulfuric acid. What you're going to do is add the nitric to to three times the amount of sulfuric in the ice batch, then start adding the glycern with an eyedropper."

"This is a delicate reaction, so please, work in pairs if you can stand it. One person watches the vat, other one drops in the glycerin. You'll know you're done when it gels up."

"Once you see that happen, you can scoop it out and mix it with sawdust to get a plastic explosive. You can roll it together and light it on fire. We don't have to do that this week, but if you have time, we have a lovely fake fast food restaurant for you to test it in." He gestured to the back wall of the shop and hit a button on the control panel, transforming it into an (unstaffed) Mooby's counter.

"Go to work. I'll be around."

Jo looked more chirpy and engaged than she had all week.

Figures it would take explosives to do that.

Ino totally perked up a bit at the idea of being able to explode things. She really did adore this class.

Sokka took very careful notes. Sure, he liked to fly by the seat of his pants and only vaguely follow directions most of the time, but those weren't things that might ACCIDENTALLY BLOW UP YOUR FACE.

Most stuff needed to be cooked while you mixed it. The ice bath was NOT a good sign.

Really, if one had to take classes...this was absolutely the way to go. Deidara definitely liked this class.

Oh. Hell yes. Rikku loved this class more and more every week.

In pairs, or alone if you want the full lone mad bomber effect.

Jo looked around for a partner.

Sokka waved at Jo. "Want help? ...Uh. Are you you, or your twin?"

"Sure," Jo replied. "That depends on which me you think I am."

"The bad-ass one?" Sokka asked.

"...Not that the other you isn't cool, too," he added hurriedly, just in case he was offending the wrong one. "But, you know, explosions."

"Yeah, it's me." Jo just thought she'd check. "The bad-ass one being Jo, right?"

"Jo, right. Yes." Sokka grinned. "You ever done this before? I haven't made anything more powerful than black powder."

Jo shook her head, grinning back. "Nothing with this much power. You've made gun powder?"

Sokka nodded. "It's a specialty of my dad's. And AWESOME to go fishing with."

Jo snorted, not maliciously. "I can imagine," she said, fingers making an exploding gesture. "Boom."

Sokka grinned and nodded happily, but then frowned. "Of course, you get things other than fish when you do that," he added. "That's why we don't do it, ever, except when people aren't looking."

Jo nodded. "That sounds like the way to do things."

Jamie went for the mad bomber effect. But since he had duplicates it was multiple mad bombers.

They all cackled maniacally as they made the nitroglycerin.

Really he was being a big dork.

Ino bounced slightly, mindful of her bruises, and glanced around for a partner.

Eve really wanted to try this one alone but had no desire to even come remotely close to blowing herself up.

Therefore, she was looking around for a partner.

Bonus points for taking out the Golden Calf.

Jamie had made his nitroglycerin into a plastic explosive.

And then made it look like a hamburger. Unfortunately he did not have enough for fries or a mcmooby shake otherwise it would have been a combo meal of doom.

Instead he just blew up the counter with spectacular results.

That stupid grin needed to go. Sokka packed nitro into the cow's giant mouth and cackled as he set it off.

Evey was there, though quiet and taking a few notes of her own.
