Class 7: A Field Trip
Jareth walks into the classroom looking like he means business. He's dressed in black leather with spiky bits, matching gloves, and a shiny black walking stick.
"Attention!
"All students who have turned in their permission slips, line up here." He strikes the ground in front of him, then turns and opens the classroom door.

"Well? What is everyone waiting for?"
He leads the way through muttering something that ends with, "...should never have gotten that far."
He stops abruptly once everyone is through, and raises an eyebrow at the door, which closes and is not there any more, if anyone cares to look behind them.
"All right. The labyrinth is not a fuzzy place full of happy, playful things. Everything is a trap. Do not cuddle the fairies, do not pet the goblins, do not touch the walls and do not stray from the group. Does everyone understand?"
He waits, watching the students. When there have been sufficient signs of understanding, he continues, "Now, everybody pick a partner. Hold hands. If, by some misfortunate circumstance, you become lost or separated from the group, call my name. I will be along eventually to fish you out of whatever oubliette you've fallen into.
"This way." He turns and starts walking, setting a very brisk pace through passage ways guarded by high brick walls. Everything sparkles. Eventually, topiary starts to show up, and a little while after that, the topiary seems to become one with the walls.
"We are approaching the hedgemaze. Keep your mouths shut in case the door guards are awake. We'll never get them to shut up again once we wake them."
He walks several more feet, stops so fast the class almost runs into him (whichever unlucky student is up front) and spins around. "I have to go...attend to something," he says. "Stay here and try not to move." Then he walks around a corner, out of sight. If any one peeks around it, they will see a dead end in the hedges, and no Jareth.
[ooc: okay, do what you will! And if any people are on at 9 pm pacific, we can roleplay some of this in real time--that's four hours from now when I will next have internet access.
ETA: There's going to be dance number. Oh, yes.
ETA2:The field trip part 2will be posted later tonight for the players that haven't gotten lost...yet :D If you have, carry on, until (or even IF) you call Jareth to come get you. Neither of these have a time limit, considering how bad I've been about posting in a timely manner. It's all borrowed playing time, anyway, so assume you'll be back slightly worse for the wear, at the exact time you left.]

Kiki hops on her ever-present broom and pushes off from the ground. She raises a few feet in the air, but just as she reaches the level of the tops of the shrubs, she wobbles and plummets. The fall is only about 3 feet, so she lands on her feet. Puzzled, she tries again, and falls again.
"Evidently," she says with a frown, "Professor Jareth has ruled out flight for those of us with the ability. Looks like we're walking."

*nothing happens* I guess magic doesn't work either... Right hand rule?

"We could give it a shot, as long as I won't end up hurting your back."
no subject
"Ok, let's try that direction," she says, pointing to Harry's right.

*bends down* Here, climb up.

"Almost... there," she says, stretching herself up taller. It seems that a good view of the labyrinth is always just out of sight.
"There!" She says, "I think if we head straight and a bit to the left, we'll get to a sort of raised platform and - I think that's a fountain - we might be able to see better from there."

He walks with her still on his shoulders toward the estimated location of the fountain.

He comes across a fork in the path, an eerie hand pits to the center trail.
"Since we think the fountain is on the left, I guess we should go that way. What do you think?"

"OoooKaayy...This is interesting."
