Good evening from the Fandom High auditorium. I'm CJ Cregg and I'll be moderating the Student Council debates.

Our Format tonight will be as follows:
Students and teachers alike will ask questions of the candidates. [Please submit your questions to the moderator via the appropriate thread] Each candidate
will respond to the question in turn, and I will call on each for their response.

After each candidate has gone, any one may request a further rebuttal to address
a point made by an opponent, the granting of which is at my discretion. The press will have full access and are also encouraged to
contribute questions.

In the case of no opponent, the same format will
apply, although the rebuttals will be unnecessary for obvious reasons.

Angela can think of many places she would rather be than the debates. Having her teeth cleaned, for example, or sitting through the math portion of the SATs.

But she figures she should be there to support Marty, Rory and Phoebe.

She takes a seat in the back of the auditorium and carefully avoids eye contact with any of the JA crowd.

"Very well." Beka looks for her opponents in the audience. She finds Wednesday first.

"Wednesday Addams is... I'm sorry, I can't even use that phrase. It's inappropriate." She takes a sip of water and continues. "I met Wednesday Addams in study hall yesterday for the first time when I learned she was running for this office. Three good things about her are: First, while she's running on the BSC campaign, she engaged myself and Angelus in conversations. Therefore, she shows a willingness to work with anyone who will work with her. Second, from her campaign posters, it's clear that she is organized and detail-oriented. Third, from her text and subtext, she is a spirited and witty conversationalist." She inclines her head to Wednesday. "I would be pleased to work with her."

Beka looks, but does not see Johnny Crane, though she's certain he'll arrive and hopes someone will tell him what she's said. "I met Johnny Crane when I was admiring his campaign posters. I liked his use of purple, since so many other men would've thought the color unmanly. So the first thing I'd say about Johnny is that he's confident of who he is and what he wants." She taps a finger to her lip, thinking of which other two things she should say. "Second, from conversing with Johnny, I'd say he's very smart and enjoys learning, which should make him someone the teachers will work with. Third, despite running against me, he was courteous, even charming, when we spoke. I look forward to meeting with him again."

*clears her throat and attempts the accent*
Ye be talkin' about how wonderful all yer ideas are. Give us three things about why yer opponent be not Satan.

Rogue sneaks out about hlaf-way through. Politics have always bored her, and she showed Pheebs and Beka her support. She's done.

"The thing is, I happen to agree with a lot of Mr. Malfoy's ideas.

We have such a diverse population of both students and faculty that it will indeed be a challenge to be balanced and fair for each student. No one decision or event is going to please everyone that calls Fandom High their home. The idea is to try to at least provide a balanced medium that offers compromise to each student without showing favoritism.

The problem is that there is too much racism and cliquishness among the student body. We as student government, no matter what the outcome of the election, need to work at doing more to unite the student body. It shouldn't take an attack on our school to unite us and make us work together."

Professor, would it be possible for me to make a brief statement about the debate itself to the audience, and also to thank one of the candidates for their candor?

Thank you Miss Halliwell. Mr. Malfoy? Care to make your rebuttal to anything she's said?

That is highly unorthodox, Miss Valentine. However, because you are the only official candidate for this position, I will accept your brief statement.

(OOC: This is totally OOC, but mega-props to you. Angelus is brilliant tonight. It's incredibly fun to watch and read.)

Catches his eye again and nods minutely.

Beka nods to Cole who has just said that he's not debating. "Cole, thank you. You're correct. My opponents should be up here speaking as well. I hope the students will take the opportunity being provided for them to meet and listen to all of the candidates."

Anakin laughs at Professor Cregg's obviously Barbossa-written question, eyes sparkling.

Phoebe has seen this and stares after Belthazor in shocked admiration...especially since he knows why she allowed herself to be added to ticket in the first place.

Beka sees Anakin laughing and wishes there were a way to tell him that she found the question amusing and an excellent opportunity.

Beka notices Angela and mentally winces. Nevertheless, she's proud of herself. Angela may not choose to forgive her, but Beka will protect her even more fiercely for it.
