FANDOM HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL DEBATES

Good evening from the Fandom High auditorium. I'm CJ Cregg and I'll be moderating the Student Council debates.

Our Format tonight will be as follows:
Students and teachers alike will ask questions of the candidates. [Please submit your questions to the moderator via the appropriate thread] Each candidate
will respond to the question in turn, and I will call on each for their response.

After each candidate has gone, any one may request a further rebuttal to address
a point made by an opponent, the granting of which is at my discretion. The press will have full access and are also encouraged to
contribute questions.

In the case of no opponent, the same format will
apply, although the rebuttals will be unnecessary for obvious reasons.

For the position of student council president--
[livejournal.com profile] _notanumber,[livejournal.com profile] future_visions, [livejournal.com profile] pure_blooddraco

Vice presidential candiates--
[livejournal.com profile] cyloninmyhead, [livejournal.com profile] demonbelthazorand [livejournal.com profile] notcalledlizzie

For Secretary--
[livejournal.com profile] _gottahavefaith and [livejournal.com profile] lizzy_turner

For Treasurer--

I ask that anyone who wishes to be a write in candidate remain in the audience, and feel free to question their opponent...making clear the potential as a candidate. All responses, please be concise. This is a venue to discuss qualifications, not to sling mud. Let's have a nice clean debate. Let's go gang.

((ooc: respond in the appropriate comment thread in order to keep this organized. thank you))

::takes a seat, watching the debates with interest. And a note pad::

An uninformed voter is a faulty voter, after all.

Paige thinks a moment, "Well she's left the hottest ticket right, so isn't she working with your little group, the JA? Well I guess that shifts my vote over to you."

You're Phoebe's sister, right?

Is there any truth to the rumour she's going on her own ticket?

That's right, I don't know about her going on her own ticket though, I've not spoken to her about it much

"Well, I admit that having a student council here would be a difficult job. We have such a wide variety of people, human and non-human that it's hard to be able to suit everyone's needs. I believe the first thing that is needed is a way to break down the racial barriers we have here. Humans, aliens, mutants, wizards; we need to stop putting ourselves in separate groups and start working together. We shouldn't be afraid of each other just because we have unique abilites. We should be taking our abilites and using them to make a better school.

To achieve these goals I think we should start with having more activites planned. Homecoming is a start, it's a way for all of us to be together without the distraction of schoolwork. I know students have formed clubs but there could always be more to suit every interest. And some clubs have been formed but haven't had meetings yet, we need to get more involvement. Even parties are a good way of getting people in a room together, interacting. Whatever helps the students of Fandom High to stop being suspicious of each other."

Alanna sat up straight. "I believe that in a school with such a uniquely diverse student body such as Fandom High security is even more important then at a regular school. Difference breeds distrust and the job of the Securties Officer should be to help provide a safe environment. My goals are to do just that. If elected, I would create weekly safe defense training seminars and be available for students to come to for help whenever they needed it."

Re: SECRETARY

Well, considering that our school is... a bit unique, anyone who wants to represent the student body here is going to have to adapt to the special circumstances.

As secretary, I plan on making sure that the student body is totally and completley informed on everything that goes on with student council- secrets can't, and shouldn't, be kept in a school like this. I plan on using the school newspaper, radio station (where I do a weekly broadcast), web site, and bulliten boards to inform students of what goes on.

A very important thing in a school where there are zombie attacks, gremlin infestations, and evil baked goods is communication of what to do in an emergency. The student council officers should work with the administration to develop emergency plans for every contingency, and to publicize them to the students. My experience and knowledge of various sorts of supernatural danger (such as zombies) would make me very helpful in this respect.

Thank you, Professor Cregg.

Angelus passes him a note.

There's going to be free food at the event tomorrow. Can you make sure that makes it to the radio ad?
