Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was lovely thanks to the island's new location, and even though it had been less than a week, there was no sign anywhere on the school lawn that part of the land had sunk and collapsed during graduation.

That didn't stop everyone from setting things up away from where the graduates had been seated, of course.

There were tables and chairs and plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and three signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, one listing rooms and roommates for the new students, and one listing the cabin assignments.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

"Then set it outside," she said, "though, really, even the wee knights with their swords and such didn't hurt anyone."

"Wee knights?" Dick asked, looking for any indication that Ino was joking. "Okay, so I'm not insane. It's just that this place itself is insane in general."

She totally wasn't joking.

"Well," Ino considered that, "that's probably true."

"Well, at least I seem to be coming to terms with this quickly," Dick said.

Bruce knew. He had to know. Freaking Bruce.

"Okay, aside from all of that stuff, what's there to do in town?"

"We'll see how well you do after your first weirdness," Ino said, "like switching genders or something."

"Um," she considered it, "well, there's shopping and Wellspring Arms and Meditation Centre if you're into weapons--I work there--and Lukes' is a good place to go if you want something quick to eat, or Pizza Planet. Cafe Fina's more upscale but still casual. There's a bowling alley, and a movie theatre and I think a mini-golf course too."

"You work at a weapons store?" Dick asked. He didn't see that one coming at all.

"Oh, definitely," she grinned, "I wouldn't want to work anywhere else."

"I wouldn't have expected that," Dick said. "Is it even legal for teenagers to sell weapons to people?"

"In my world it is."

Which didn't really answer his question.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't seem to be from this world," Dick said.

...

"Well, no," she admitted, "but Cable-san is and he's the one that hired me."

Dick decided not to suggest that this Cable guy might be knowingly breaking the law. After all, that would be rude, for one, having never met the guy. And it was probably not a good idea to offend his big sister on the first day. And he didn't want to make anyone think he was overly concerned with, you know, legalities.

"Well, I'll definitely have to stop by in any event. I'm not exactly big on weapons, but they are cool." Maybe they'd have a nice bo staff or something he could invest in.

It... wouldn't really bother her to know Cable was breaking the law. And they'd totally have a bo staff for him to use.

She beamed at him. "I work Wednesdays, just so you know. And Rikku is Friday at the moment, and Cable-san has Mondays and Thursdays."

"I'll try to make it in on Wednesday, then," Dick said.

"Okay, I still need to find my roommate. You haven't met a Ned yet, have you?"

"I'll look forward to it," Ino said, then considered his question, "I... think I saw someone named that over that way?" She pointed off into the crowd. "That's about the best I can do though."

[Forever and ever? Heeee.]

"Thanks," Dick said. "I'll talk to you later."

[OOC: Not forever and ever. Just forever. (Maybe fourever.) Conjunctions have no place in my love.]

"Totally," with a nod, "good luck finding him."

[ *rolls eyes* *laughs* Oh, just go! Geez! Take your mangling of the u and shoo!]
