Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was lovely thanks to the island's new location, and even though it had been less than a week, there was no sign anywhere on the school lawn that part of the land had sunk and collapsed during graduation.

That didn't stop everyone from setting things up away from where the graduates had been seated, of course.

There were tables and chairs and plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and three signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, one listing rooms and roommates for the new students, and one listing the cabin assignments.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

"Dick Grayson," Dick said. "So you're not a robot. How about a pop star? I don't follow music too much so it's completely possible that I just haven't heard of you."

"I sang in the shower once," Ned told him. "I didn't get a record deal."

"Junior," Dick said. His big sister was a year younger than him and his roommate was a year older. He just needed a freshman girlfriend now and he'd have all four years represented. "As the elder roommate, it's your responsibility to organize the parties. Just so you know."

"Parties?" Ned asked. "Uh. I'm the worst guy ever to plan anything."

"Come on, it'll be fun," Dick said encouragingly. "There's nothing to it. Unless the dorm rooms are tiny. Then there's something to it, but you'll figure it out."

"You want me to plan a party?" Ned said like it was the most insane thing in the world. "I can't even plan what I'm going to wear when I wake up in th morning."

"Well, at first it was just a joke, but now I'm starting to take it as a challenge," Dick said.

"I have a dog!" Ned said suddenly, trying to get Dick's mind off of making him throw parties.

"Oh yeah," Ned told him, nodding. "Digby's very friendly. He's a golden retriever, full grown, housebroken, and respectful. He won't eat your shoes."

"I...don't think so but I'm never awake to catch myself snoring," Ned said. "So, maybe?"

"Not much," Dick said. "There's an off-chance I might invest in earplugs, but that's about it."

"Okay, good," Ned said, relieved. "I don't think I do. Digby doesn't either. I don't talk in my sleep either."

"Um, I don't think Digby does," Ned said but now he was curious. "I'll ask him."

Pause.

"Um, not that he'll answer. Or talk."
