Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was lovely thanks to the island's new location, and even though it had been less than a week, there was no sign anywhere on the school lawn that part of the land had sunk and collapsed during graduation.

That didn't stop everyone from setting things up away from where the graduates had been seated, of course.

There were tables and chairs and plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and three signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, one listing rooms and roommates for the new students, and one listing the cabin assignments.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

"You mock now," Summer said, smirking a bit. "But you'll be glad we had this conversation soon enough."

"Who said I was mocking?"

You know, except for the fact that he totally was.

"You totally were," Summer said. "Can't mock a mocker."

Cal tilted his head at Summer a bit.

And smirked.

"You know, you're not helping your case very much by becoming a self-admitted mocker."

"You make a very good point," Summer added. "And you know, I think you'll probably be okay here."

"I'm glad you think so," Cal answered after a moment, laughing a little nervously as he wondered what might have been the case that would make Summer think otherwise.

"I'm really not crazy," Summer had to add. "So if you have any questions or want to know anything about where to go around here for fun, I can so help with that."

Cal was definitely going to file the not crazy part into his to be determined file, but she was cute, and so crazy probably went with the whole package.

"That second one sounds like a good way to go," he said. "What is there to do around here?"

"There's Caritas, which is a karaoke bar," Summer explained. "And the Perk has caffeinated goodness. There's a pizza place, a movie theatre, and a few beaches. Those are probably nice right now since we're kinda in Greece."

"And there's always something going on in the common rooms," she added.

The bit about Greece had Cal wondering if he should really ask for advice from someone who was possibly stoned, crazy, or merely picking up on the cues from his Greek features and last name to tease him a little, so he just skipped over that ~~for great Jossing avoiding goodness~~.

"That doesn't sound too bad. I was a little worried, 'cause it seems like a small island and everything."

Not that Cal was really much of a social creature, but he liked to know that he had options.

"Well, it's never boring around here," Summer said.

"Never?" Cal may have pouted slightly at that. Sometimes, boring was good. He needed a little bit of boring after the past two years...

"Well, okay, there are some quiet days," Summer quickly added.

Cal eyed Summer dubiously again.

"We're gonna have to get together sometime again in a few days," he observed, "so that I can see if your disposition's changed at all so I can tell when I should believe you and when I shouldn't."

"Well, I'll be around. I'm in room 306 if you need me," Summer told him. "And my phone number's in the directory."

"306," Cal repeated, nodding. "I can remember that. Um, and I guess...I'm in 405. You know, just in case..."

Not that he'd imagine Summer would want to bother coming around and visiting him, or anything, but he figured he might as well throw it out there.

"It's definitely good to know," Summer said. "I can probably check in from time to time to see how you're adjusting and all."

"Okay," Cal's head bobbed. "Cool."
