Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was lovely thanks to the island's new location, and even though it had been less than a week, there was no sign anywhere on the school lawn that part of the land had sunk and collapsed during graduation.

That didn't stop everyone from setting things up away from where the graduates had been seated, of course.

There were tables and chairs and plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and three signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, one listing rooms and roommates for the new students, and one listing the cabin assignments.

[~~WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE.~~ OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

Tyler gave a slight smile, realizing he really hadn't answered Jamie's question. "It wasn't all soap. I went to college, got married, went to jail, all that stuff. Lived in Arizona the last few years. Just ... a lot to sum up." Frowning, he added, "She's gone," to forestall questions about his wife.

He listened intently to Jamie's recitation of Stickbug news. "I'll send everybody an email, then, and see if I can catch English and Peter Parker before they head out. And maybe John and Aeryn should get a toaster."

"Is River still around?" It was stupid, but he kind of had to ask.

Jamie gave Tyler a sympathetic look. "I get that, hopefully we'll get some time to catch up. As for River, I think she's still around. She just graduated but I don't know if she left here or not. You'd probably find her over at the Arms Hotel if she has her usual shift."

"Sounds like it might have been a long year for you," he said, softly. "I'll go find her. Later." Later was an excellent time, yes.

"So did I miss any interesting invasions? Other than that the island seems to be about half the world away from where I left it."

"Well there was a fairy thing at Graduation," Jamie explained. "Next think you know? POOF! Greece. And there was this whole thing where we got attacked by statues and a bunch of folks got sent backward in time," Jamie said trying to remember all the weirdness. "In the fall everyone got sick and almost died. Can't tell you much about what happened during the summer because I was lost in space for a bit."

Oh, that was all just perfect.

"Jamie?" Tyler said, a bit weakly.

"Yes?" Jamie asked looking at Tyler cautiously. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No. No." Tyler took a breath. "This place really is as weird as I thought it was, huh? I wondered if I was making it up."

"Nope," Jamie said cheerfully. "Still one crazy place."

"I'm getting the picture," Tyler said. "Good to see you, anyhow. I looked you guys up a couple times but there was just nothing."

"So either that means we are no where near your dimension or whatever," Jamie theorized, "or we were blown to bits in the near future."

"Not blown to bits by me, anyhow," Tyler said softly. "I think it's just the dimension thing."

"Let's hope so," Jamie said. "I'd hate for that to be a dire prediction for the island. So I got to ask... Why soap?"

"'Cause it's a lot of money for a little effort, and it was my first project when I was 14," Tyler answered. "Half a lifetime, down the drain."

"And if you tweak the ingredients you get nitroglycerine."

Jamie laughed. "Somehow I knew there had to be explosives involved."

"You have met me, right?"

"Oh... I remember you well," Jamie said with a grin. "Weren't you the one who rigged the cheesecake to explode?"

"Greg and Peter Parker helped," Tyler said. "I think. It all kinda blurs together, going that far back."

"Still. Exploding cheesecake," Jamie snickered. "Classic."
