Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The weather was lovely thanks to the island's new location, and even though it had been less than a week, there was no sign anywhere on the school lawn that part of the land had sunk and collapsed during graduation.

That didn't stop everyone from setting things up away from where the graduates had been seated, of course.

There were tables and chairs and plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and three signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, one listing rooms and roommates for the new students, and one listing the cabin assignments.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

"Is this universe in danger?" she asked, more amused now. "I didn't know."

"But now you do," Jim said, and managed to sound patronizing enough to talk down to an entire flock of toddlers. He struggled onto his (well, the suit's, but those were his, anyway) feet. "Good morning!"

"Good morning," she said mildly, "I'm Dr. Juli Mizrahi and you are...?"

A beat.

"And how is the universe in danger?"

"Earthworm Jim, Defender of the Universe," he replied conversationally, grinning and sticking out one gloved-suit hand for a shake. "And I don't know, they don't give me advance copy." His demeanour changed instantly, and he wriggled the fingers of the unoffered hand. "Apparently it's all too time-sensitive."

Juli went to shake his hand, glad for years of keeping a straight face. A worm. How... entertaining.

"An advance copy?" she asked, "you get your disasters regularily then?"

"It's not like Ultimate Infinite Peril takes vacations, miss," Jim said, eyeing the tips of his gloves. "...Well, not regularily, anyway."

"Sometimes though, it's gone for longer than usual," Juli said. "And, I'm not a 'miss'."

Still politely smiling though.

"You're not a miss!" The faux-pas was horrid. HORRID. "How could I have ever thought you were a miss?!" He sank back to his knees. "Will you EVER forgive me?"

He seemed pretty honest about the whole deal.

...

...

"I'll take it as a compliment," Juli told him, laughing softly. "Don't worry about it."

"Oh," Jim said, getting straight up onto his feet. "Okay. If you say so."

His moodswings were quite... extreme.

"I do," she said mildly, "and my opinion is what matters in this case."
