Karal was distracted, but he'd found a whiteboard from somewhere and wheeled it into the library. "I thought we could try our hand at the jumbles that have been in the paper recently. I've done one in Karsite that I thought you could all try and guess. And then someone else could come up and do another one, in whatever language they like."

On the board was--

Okay, it was stupidly easy, but he was very distracted. "When everyone who wants to has had a turn, I thought we could simply make new words by choosing one letter from each of our jumbled words."

Romeo had half-forgotten his conversation with Adah, but it came back to him as soon as he opened the notebook. He shot a shy smile down the table toward Adah.

And, because shouting in her direction seemed wrong, he left his seat to approach hers. //I would,// he told her in French. //I may even take back calling you a minx. Thank you.//

Grinning back a little, Adah smoothed out the paper on her other notebook, already open because it was language club, so, of course, she was prepared to converse in one of her favorite voices. She wrote back to Romeo, in the secondary language they both seemed comfortable with, français.

Adah expressively sucked in a deep breath at the mention of that accursed jam, shaking her head in repulsion and dark, terrible things in her eyes for if she spotted a single drop of the substance staining her kanji.

You know, despite the fact that she'd already planted some, oh so conspicuously.

But he did ask an interesting question, and Adah tilted her head a moment before responding.

//"Only that they're peppered with all sorts of notes and doodles, some of which might not even make any sense. As the notebook is in your possession, you're allowed to try to decipher them, but I might rather prefer if you did not. I don't see what you'd find interesting about them, anyway, and there are better uses of your time, besides."//

And the fact that was soon enough to be a reasonable length of time for borrowing a notebook was very, very strange to Romeo, who still felt like even with the Parisian interlude his time in Fandom was an eyeblink.

Adah nodded solemnly, taking to her pen again.

//"I'll allow plagerization of the notes regarding the subject, as well. That way, you have your own copy of the information to refer to well after I'll need my notebook back..."

Adah frowned a bit at him, not sure she quite followed, but then she blinked with the light of realization.

//"Those machines that create the duplicates, yes? The LAZY method, you mean?"//

Of course, she was smirking as she angled that scribbled reply on her notebook toward him to read.

Adah simply responded with a deep, exasperated sigh and a rueful shake of her head, though she smirked at Romeo. Boys and their laziness, really.
