Fandom Invasions, Class #11 (Week 12, Thursday, period 4)

When the class entered the Danger Shop today, it was made up to look like one of the common rooms. John was not obviously in sight, but there were children rampaging around the place as unsupervised children are wont to do.

Near the sign in sheet was a small whiteboard with this written on it:

Last weekend Fandom had many of you and your fellow students experiencing a second childhood. This is the sort of thing that happens every now and then here, but not every time are the students the focus.

Like the situation we're looking at in this class. It's happened again, but in this case, t's your teachers.

Your assignment today is to deal with the young teachers present, look after them, keep them entertained and safe. Also, keep everything else safe from them. If they manage to blow up themselves, each other, you or the island, consider that a failing grade on this assignment.

Also? Tying them up or locking them in a closet is not allowed.

Barney was plopped in a big chair, looking very interested in an upside-down copy of Cigar Aficionado.

John looked over from his cars. "The book's upside down," he said.

Little four-year-old Barney did not realize this, nor did he care. "So?" he countered as he was very mature for his age. His tiny suit would show anyone as much.

Luckily he was rather ADD, "'S that a car? Cars're baaaad!"

"It's an 'pala," John said.

"Ooh, 'pala," Barney replied. "Makin' it crash?"

John looked offended at the suggestion. "Dude! You don't crash a 'pala! That's so wrong!"

"How come?" Barney frowned. He knew cars crashed. The end.

"It's a 'pala!" John said. That was explanation in itself for John.

Barney didn't deal well with this explanation. "But..." He wibbled.

This was an opportunity that Hoshi couldn't pass up. "What are you reading?" she asked.

Barney looked her over and deemed her worthy enough. "Why hel-lo there!"

"Hello," said Hoshi. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but you're absolutely adorable!"

"I know," he said, looking up at her all adorable.

Hoshi was not at all surprised that he knew how adorable he looked. "What do you like to play with?" she asked.

He looked up at her with huge, pretty eyes. "Girls."

"Oh," said Hoshi, who had been expecting something along the lines of toys. "Do you, um, like to play games with girls?"

"Uh huh," Barney grinned to show off his shiny front teeth. "Wanna pway?"

Hoshi's instincts were telling her to say no, but he was just so adorable. There couldn't be any harm in playing with a little boy like Barney, right?

"Sure! What do you want to play?"

Hoshi wasn't sure how she managed to keep a straight face. "Wouldn't you rather play with crayons?" she asked hopefully.
