Art History, Period 1, Class 10 [3-28]
"We are now going to skip forward a bit to another major art movement," Steve said at the beginning of class as he handed out informative packets, "or rather, two major movements of the nineteenth century: Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. There's a lot here and not a lot of time to do it in, so I'm going to just hit the high points. Both movements were centered in France, and they were about breaking the rules. They left the studios, they used brush strokes however they wanted to to get the effect they wanted. Many of these artists are still hailed as masters: Monet, Cezanne, Pisarro, Renoir, Van Gogh...the list goes on. In fact, the list is so long, I'd like everyone to review your packets and pick out an artist you find interesting, then tell the class why."

"You gotta respect the genius of a guy like that. Lobbing off an ear and making art like that? Come on."
