If there was anything special about this particular day, Reno certainly didn't have any idea as he busied himself in the music room, setting up his newest acquisitions.

A poker table had taken the place of the desk that had been in the Barney Corner, there was a dartboard hanging on the wall, and, where the tables for the hosts were normally situated, Reno had set up a big, shiny, brand new pool table.

If the hosts wanted their old furniture back, it was all shuffled up against a wall. They were more than welcome to drag their chairs and desks back if they so desired.

Just meant they were going to have to move the liquid-that-was-quite-possibly-beer-but-ssh off of them first, is all.

Reno had even ~~handwavily~~ put signs up around the campus.

"No, no, it's okay," he said. "This isn't exactly my game anyway."

"You sure?" she asked. "'Cause I was just walking with the babies. Heading back to the room, you know?"

She hoped he wasn't just being nice. She'd liked him before, well, before that night, and hated to think she might have wrecked things.

"'Course," he said. "I mean, unless you were in a hurry or something."

"Me? Oh no, I mean, I'd just go back to my room alone and read or something. No hurry at all." She glanced around the room. "Is this some sort of... pool playing club or something?"

He looked around, "Um, this is the Host Club. It used to be kinda artsy but is in the middle of some, uh, renovation."

"Interesting," she said. "So... this is what you do with your Sunday aternoons?"

She shifted the twins carrier a little, trying to get them into a little bit more comfortable position. "It seems nice enough here."

"It is," he nodded, looking at the twins. "And you...babysit?"

She rolled her eyes. "You won't believe this. I went to class Thursday morning after... well, after, and my Ethics class was on 'Lust and the unplanned consequences thereof'. I got twin girl droid babies. And a partner who can't be near them because he makes mechanical things explode. Something about being a wizard."

"Wow," Lucas cringed. "That is some luck. Did you need any help with them?"

"I haven't slept through the night yet," Lana said with a rueful smile. "I'm doing okay - but... well, I wouldn't turn down any offers of help. Even just some adult conversation would be nice. Or an extra set of hands."

"Well, that's certainly one way for the professors to advocate safe sex," Lucas said. "If you'd like, I'm willing to help out. I'd gather I'm sorta karmically involved."

She laughed. "I have never been so glad I was careful in my life as I was that morning. And yeah, I'd love some help. I was not cut out to be the single mother of twin girls apparently."

"I dunno, Lana, you seem pretty strong to me," Lucas shrugged, thinking of what he'd heard of her story and how his mom had handled it.

"Me?" she said curiously. "I'm a wimp. I'm afraid of everything!"

"Nah, you survived two years working in a diner in the past and you're already back taking classes and fitting back into your old life," he pointed out. "The things we're afraid of and overcome make us strong."

She ducked her head. "I guess. I sort of just think of it as doing what I had to do."

One of the twins started crying and she rolled her eyes. "Oh God." She shifted the carrier around to be able to pull her out - Lara this time - and began doing the baby soothing jiggle. "Sorry."

Not wanting to bother the other guys with the crying, Lucas asked, "You want me to walk you back to the dorms? I could carry the other...kid."

"That would be wonderful," Lana said gratefully. "If you're sure you don't mind?" She handed Maggie over and led the way back to her room (http://lovelylana.livejournal.com/53256.html).
