Lifestyle course: Essay for next week

Okay, this week I am going to set an essay, after I forgot my cunning ploy of refraining from doing so didn't spark huge and entertaining arguments in class last time round.

This week, we're going to be exploring alcohol. In particular, the ways in which alcohol can enhance -- or, alternatively, detract from -- one's lifestyle.

Please put your essays -- one hundred words, as before -- into the tray here by Saturday evening, and we'll study the topic in greater depth on Monday as before.

I'm intending to do some serious research into this matter on Friday afternoon, so please keep an eye out for me in town.

Edit: Thanks to a number of people dropping out or leaving school, I've got vacancies on this course. If you want to sign up, just leave me an essay like the other students. You'll be expected to join in the seminar on Mondays. Participation, marks and grades will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Well, most people like to think that alcohol enhances one's lifestyle. And it does in some ways. I mean, you're more relaxed than usual so you become more sociable. Fear of talking to people, especially of the opposite sex leaves with the more drinks you have. And alcohol is the international sign of a party so naturally people will flock to where it is.
On the other side, it can make some people brash and moody. They become someone nobody would want to hang around with. And you can do embarassing things that people will most likely bring up for years to come. So basically alcohol is a gamble. You could end up with more friends, lose some friends or pictures of you naked with a lampshade on your head could emerge.

*essay on alcohol* My brother gets rather maudlin and broods a lot when he drinks too much. Our principal seems to use it as a coping mechanism. *conclusion: alcohol in moderation is good. Too much of any good thing is bad. Except maybe chocolate.*

Essay: Alcohol is a substance that alters one's sense of reality. It often lowers one's inhibitions, leading to one doing or saying things one wouldn't if one were thinking with a clear head. This could lead to embarassing and/or unsafe situations with life-long consequences. Alcohol should be consumed in moderation, when one is fully aware of the potential consequences of it's use.

Alcohol is way overrated. If you need alcohol to be cool, then you're not really cool. You should be able to live out your own style under your own control, without needing to "let go" to have fun. I think using alcohol to make yourself "have more fun" is just sad, and those people mainly use it to cover their own insecurities. Just be cool in your own way, kids.

Alcohol. A popular social beverage which leaves you open to weakness and destruction. Alcohol's strong taste leaves it as a perfect method for one to be poisoned by their enemies, without others suspecting as much until it is too late. Alcohol also lowers the natural defences that keep one's wits sharp, permitting their enemies to take advantage of the situation. Although it may be both socially admissible and encourage in youth to act like an idiot while inebriated, it can often cause far more harm than good, especially when one has reason to suspect that someone else is trying to kill him, and has killed a family member while he was under the influence of alcohol. For such reason, I have improved my lifestyle by giving up the drinking of alcohol.
