Speaking in Tongues [03/21/08], The Library, Friday Afternoon
Andrew had discovered a hastily scrawled note from Karal saying that he wouldn't be able to make it to language club and requesting that Andrew be in charge today.
So that's why Andrew was standing in front of the group, looking slightly perplexed. "Um, so Karal couldn't be here today. I'm sure he had something amazing planned for us to do, but I have no clue what that might have been."
He smiled at everyone. "And, um, well... Seeing as how we should all be able to find some common languages between us now, how about we just play telephone!" That should be fun, right? Besides, he was fairly certain Karal had talked about doing that in language club at some point anyway.
"It's pretty simple. Someone just needs to come up with a message and then they whisper it to the next person in line. Then that person would whisper it to the next, and so on so forth, until it's made it all the way around and we can see how discombobulated it has gotten. But, seeing as how this is a language club, every time you pass on the message, you need to translate it into a new language!" It was a genius activity, really.
"And did you know that a person can be discombobulated but they can't be simply combobulated? It's not a real word. I just thought that was... neat. And now I'll sit down over here. Thanks."
