Richie looked like hell. He may have been in stasis for years, but he had come out the way he went in--still recovering from some nasty burns and smoke inhalation, and definitely in a foul mood. "I'm sure you've all had an awful week, as have I. Today, we were going to talk about faux-outrage, and how it's easy to whip people up into an angry frenzy if you speak quickly and angrily enough."

"We're actually going to be doing the same lesson, but better. Real outrage, over surprising topics. I hate clowns, since they're evil and kill and eat children. And I hate racist arsonists, because they murder people in their stupidity. And because I don't think I'll ever be able to eat bacon again. But clowns who make people kill people are worse than regular clowns AND racist arsonists put together. Because they just increase their kill power."

Richie sighed, and rubbed his eyes. "Obviously, not many of you started off hating clowns. But hopefully, you no longer view them as a happy childhood memory. You should either believe me, and get that they're actually evil, or associate them forever with that crazy professor you had who went crazy." He laughed a little. "I'm not crazy, don't worry--but if it made you hate and fear clowns, I could pretend?"

"So, pick something you hate. Tell me why. I'll believe you."

Possibly what Jeff was able to pronounce, considering his face was planted firmly onto his desk.

"Evil black sky-tentacles," Valentine decided. Because, you know, everyone has evil black sky-tentacles. "Or maybe eyeballs with legs. I haven't quite decided yet. They work together, you know. One skitters about, scouting, and the other swoops down out of the sky with this slithery sound, kind of the same sound that a fish makes when it flies by, you know? And then the spider-eye is long gone and the shadow-tentacles have already turned your fiddler into something-not-unlike-graphite and they're coming after you and your juggling partner and they get him too and you can't get the bloody door open and the stupid little girl is getting in the way and it's no bloody wonder everyone wanted to leave town when the girl who created it was twisted enough in the head to come up with those stupid, stupid things in the first place."

Valentine crossed his arms and leaned back into his chair with a huff.

"Seconding the evil black sky tentacles," Carmela says. "I don't know much about all that other stuff, but evil black sky tentacles that try and blot out the universe and kill your friends and your dog... Yeah."

Robin sat quietly for a long time. He didn't hate anything. Hate just wasn't part of his make-up.

"I hate people who claim to love you, and then hurt you." Huh. Or maybe it was.

Who I'm sure doesn't hate statuary.
