Interactive Religion [Tuesday, March 18]

Today the Danger Shop was configured to look like a shore.

And on that shore, there was an elephant.

And next to that elephant was a teacher holding a series of handouts.

"Today, we're teaching yoga to an elephant," he said, pointing at the elephant. "Well, you are. I've already done that."

No he hadn't.

"Read the handouts, practice a few of the movements--if you manage to squeeze yourself into a wine jug, make sure to oil yourself up well because I'm not breaking you back out--and then take turns trying to teach Vana here some yoga."

The elephant looked in no way interested in being taught.

Reno would be boggling at Biff. But he was too busy boggling at the elephant, instead.

"The heck is that thing?"

Katara stared at the elephant. It was like Appa. But grey. And wrinkly. And not soft at all.

"Can he fly?"

Jamie might have misunderstood the assignment.

"Okay," Jamie said approaching the elephant, "The first thing you need to do is try and steal a couple of picnic baskets then say 'I'm smarter than the average bear'."

Karal just stared at the elephant.

He wasn't even surprised.

... Romeo thought he remembered how weird Professor Biff was, but, somehow, this class exceeded his expectations.

It was good to be home.

An elephant who did yoga would have made for an excellent act at the Moulin Rouge, so Romeo, though he doubted he'd manage it, was willing to try as he approached the large beast.

"Child's Pose?" he suggested hopefully, demonstrating. If it didn't work, he might get a nap from the deal.

The elephant sighed.

Romeo was a little afraid of Biff, so he approached Karal after class. "Is there anything I must do to make up for having missed last week?"

Karal studied him. "You were one of those taken, weren't you?" he asked quietly.

Romeo nodded. "Paris, 1899," was his equally quiet answer. "Not a bad place, but glad am I to be in my own time regardless."

"And I am very glad you've returned safely." Karal looked at him for a moment before continuing. "And considering why you were not able to be in class, to make up for it you should," he smiled a little, "spend some time relaxing, possibly stop in at Caritas for a drink and some good company, and simply do something which makes you happy."

Andrew didn't exactly hurl himself at Karal, but it was close. There was scampering, a little squeal, maybe a small jump, and wide open arms.
