Library, Wednesday [ 03/12 ]

Limping into the library this morning to open it and get everything all set for the day, Adah had to take a moment, after sinking down into the chair behind the desk, to listen. She sat up as straight as she could; the stillness to accompany it was much easier. And she listened, carefully, then closed her eyes as if to listen a little better, and then breathed out a soft, happy contended sigh.

No sound here except the sound of books, and it was such a relief. Adah was quickly discovering that, for such quiet creatures, rabbits made a hell of a lot of noise, and to be all day without the sound of teeth gnawing relentlessly on nearly anything it could get its incisors on was bliss. A few minutes would have been bliss, so she was feeling pretty relieved at the moment.

Sliding book against book and fingers against pages were much nicer sounds that the ones Bob made, although, Adah had to admit, as she was organizing the books on the desk into appropriate piles to make shelving them easier, she was wondering if, by the time she returned to the room, the rabbit had managed to gnaw through the bars of her cage.

The chair behind the desk was empty, as Adah would be found in the shelves, putting books away. She put most of them in the right spots. Mostly.

Adah considered bringing back with her to the desk a few books on the eating habits of rabbits to find out if trying to eat nearly everything in existence was typical Leporidae consumption habits, but she got distracted by a nice volume on nineteenth century spiritualism that had somehow, at one point been placed in with all the books about rabbits.

...Wonder how that could have possibly had happened...

During the time when the library was only open to the Librarian and other aides, Adah contemplated over the fact that she usually didn't care, and that, perhaps she should, and could use the little cubes of cheese she was eating to drive non-aides out.

Except for the fact that this would be a horrible waste of cheese.

A blank sheet of paper stared at Adah; Adah stared back and, occasionally, tapped it with the end of her pen in thought, or perhaps like some unconscious attempt to wave a magic wand and cause words to appear. She thought about writing a letter to her mother, but couldn't think of anything to write except for a bunch of palindromes that would just make Orleanna roll her eyes and Adah waste her paper.

Adah gave up the letter writing and went back to reading. Or attempting read, at any rate.

With the announcement under consideration and the fact that Adah didn't exactly mind not moving if she had to, she stuck around after when she would usually leave to keep the library open for all the people who'd flooded in to check things out about the situation. Besides, just sticking around and leaving the place open was a lot less work than trying to drive them all out.

Wheeeeee. Gone for a small hunk of time in the early afternoon for job training but mostly around, yaaaaay.

After hearing Zoe's announcement, Alex made a beeline for the library. Usually she wasn't the research type, but this time around, she was all for it.

After hearing the annoucement (http://community.livejournal.com/fandom_radio/432116.html), G'Kar made a straight line for the library. Ironic that he and Amber had chatted about those ~~tacky, tacky, whooo tacky!~~ statues (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2589611.html?thread=114530987#t114530987) just earlier this morning.

He was hoping to find something on these strange, people kidnapping statues. Anything.

Xander didn't head straight for the library after hearing Zoe's announcement -- first he tried calling Mel. Then, when there was no answer, Willow.

Yeah, that worked out well.

And that would be when he grabbed his laptop and hightailed it down to the school. In between hitting re-dial.
