Karal smiled at everyone, hoping no one noticed the bunny prints on the library floor.

"I'm not sure if this will work, but I made lots of little paper squares," Karal put a box on the table, and some large squares of cardboard, with grids marked on them, "with the letters of the languages we've been learning. I thought we could get into pairs, or groups, and play a multi-language version of the game of scrabble."

"You owe me a scarf," she teased.

And now he was blushing. "Glory, I don't know why I stole it! And I will get you another one, I promise."

"Perhaps because you were a horse?" She was laughing now. "It's not necessary, Karal, honestly. It's good to see you as you are, though."

"A horse with no manners, obviously," he laughed. "It was odd. I was still me, inside, but part of me was very horsey. I guess being shaped like a horse can't help but have an effect."

"What was it like?" Inara was dying of curiosity, and it probably showed. "How did it happen?"

"I went to sleep a person, and I woke up a horse. Which was quite a shock, for Aravis as well," he added. "I was coming down with a cold beforehand, and I do wonder if..." It was too silly. He couldn't finish the thought.

"Wonder what?" She wondered what kind of story Aravis would have to tell. "Were you ill as a horse, as well?"

"No. I was perfectly healthy. Wonderfully so! But, when I went to sleep I was feeling quite hoarse." It was the silliest thing he'd ever thought, and he simply looked at her.

She stared at him. Then she blinked. "Fandom has become disturbingly literal."

"That's what I thought!" He shook his head. "I don't regret it, though. Apart from missing Evey, it was quite fun."

"What was your favorite part?"

"Running," he said, without hesitation. "It was almost like flying."

"Now I'm jealous I didn't get to spend a week as a horse," she said, mostly serious. "It sounds wonderful. Though it might not have worked out so well with me and Gavin."
