Study Hall -- Tuesday, October 4th
Welcome to the study hall for Tuesday. If anybody's looking for me, the gremlins are on an upswing today, so I'll be prowling around with a cricket bat and a CD player with Music To Bash Things With.
A few announcements:
-- Please go here to participate in the roll call of student clubs so that we can make sure that all student clubs are accounted for.
-- The student body is reminded that any student going to Homecoming will need to purchase tickets. Homecoming elections will be held this Friday, and Homecoming is this upcoming weekend. Also, in student council news, the Student Council Election Debates will be held Wednesday night, with the election itself taking place on Monday.
-- In other news, five teaching positions will be listed later on today for your perusal. We are in need of new teachers, so please check that out when the post is made.
-- For some fucking reason, Locker 327 has been in reverse all morning long and has been randomly spewing strange things into the halls. Someone should be repairing it later in the week, but until then, be aware of the dangers and be on guard accordingly.
-- In related news, there's a mime loose on campus. And no, you're not allowed to kill it. You are, however, allowed to mock and point.

Parker plays the short game. There is no short game to fix the distrust, the weapons ban, and the restrictions on our freedom.
JA plays the long game. Anakin and I have been talking a lot. He reminds me of Bobby with his love of Causes, I guess.
*shakes her head* I don't know. I'm not a hero. I'm just a girl who wants to live life on my terms, make sure all my friends can do the same. And maybe, though don't tell anyone I said so, get an education in the process.
Sorry. Didn't mean to get to speechifying. *wry smile*

Obviously I need to work on expressing this better. My problem is that the Administration wants us to trust each other, and, you know? I do. I trust all of my fellow students, post-zombie attack. Far more than I trust the school. The school talks about building trust, but I don't see them doing it.
I'm trying. I've made friends with at least one member of every political slate and offered to help no matter who wins. I've made friends with people from every major classification of powered or unpowered students. Shep and I agreed to take the animosity out of our tormenting each other.
I'm trying to build trust one person at a time. If we have trust, then the rules won't be oppressive, and maybe we'll deserve to have our weapons back. Maybe that's my campaign platform.

I trust my fellow students. That doesn't mean they all trust me.
*shrugs again* Angelus and I were
flirtingtalking in study hall. He helped me get out ofmy clothesthe weapons ban chaos. I sent him a rose as a gesture, with a card that we both understood perfectly well. The Flower Shop called me back to warn me that if 'anything happened' they'd have to cough up my personal information.I don't like living in a fishbowl. If it breaks, bad things happen to the fish.

It's high school, Beka. Of course you're being watched. I imagine it was much the same on your father's ship, you live in the same space so people will notice. You just have to lock your door if you want to have a private conversation.

*smiles sadly* That's where you'd be wrong, on both counts. No one watched. Pop's a drug addict and Bobby and I would be gone for days at a time.
And there's no privacy here. Spider's cameras are probably everywhere and Dean Bristow pretty much told me that there was no way for me to do stuff without him knowing about it.
no subject
What kind of stuff exactly is it then that you need to be doing that Dean Bristow can't see it? Because frankly, unless you're up to no good, you have nothing to worry about it. And I don't think Spider gives a damn about any of our sex lives.

Where I'm from, people knowing too much about you, even the normal stuff, is a good way to get dead. I know it's not like that here, or it shouldn't be, but 17 years is a long time to shake off in a few weeks.
