On this particular afternoon, soft classical music could be heard throughout the Music room at Fandom High. Tamaki had brought with him a small stereo and had been sure to have plenty of waltzing music on hand. In addition to the music, he'd brought two stacks of handouts, which he stacked neatly next to the stereo.

Tamaki smiled at everyone as they filed in, then bowed low in greeting.

"My fellow students and brand new hosts," he said cheerily, "Welcome to the Fandom High School Host Club's second ever meeting!" He smiled and gestured to the first stack of handouts. "First of all, I would like each Host to take a look at these basic lessons in etiquette. You will all be expected to behave like gentlemen while you are in the club! Do not forget," he winked. "I would also like all of you to see me when you have a moment, for I shall be taking costume theme suggestions for upcoming meetings." He turned to the guests. "I shall also take costume theme requests from the ladies, if they have any ideas," he added, with a disarming smile, "For their input is the most precious of all. Our aim is to delight!"

"As I mentioned in my e-mail earlier this week, you will all be learning to waltz today. A gentleman is graceful and light on his feet, Hosts," he said smoothly, sweeping his arm through the air as he spoke and stopping it in front of the second stack of papers. These are your dance step diagrams. Study them carefully, then choose a dance partner and give the waltz a try! I will be watching, and please do ask me if you're unsure. Give it your best effort! On occasion, the Host Club will have parties, and parties require dancing!"

After a moment, he grinned and cocked his head to the side, raising a hand to his chin. "I would like to add that I am also available to dance, and honored to do so, should any of the lovely volunteers feel lonely or wish to test my skill and grace."

He raised his hands and clapped them sharply, beaming with glee as he did so. "Begin!"

"He thinks I have some manner of magic that allows me to see these things," he said with a shake of his head.

"Maybe if you look into that?" Teddy suggested. "Just in case?"

He shook his head.

"I'm going to try Ino's suggestion of meditation," he said. "And ask around to people I trust."

Because he wasn't magic.

Of course not.

"Promise me you'll look into that if the other stuff doesn't help, okay?"

"I--"

He couldn't. It wasn't something he could promise, no easily, but he thought of what he owed to Teddy and what he'd done and the last week without him.

"I'll... try."

Okay. That was good enough, Teddy supposed.

"Thank you."

"I'll leave you be," he said with a small smile.

After all, Teddy had done well enough without him. If that was so, and his presence caused trouble...

Best not to. Teddy deserved better.

"I'm glad you're feeling better."

Teddy sighed.

"Liir, don't be like that. If I didn't want to talk to you, I wouldn't have accepted the cookies."

He shook his head.

"I'd rather not hurt you again, and you seem to be just fine without me. If all I'm going to contribute to you is shock and horrible memories..."

He turned and looked Teddy right in the face, green green eyes earnest.

"I don't know much. I can't do much. I'm not a decent human being. But you're my friend."

"Lirr--" He sighed again. "You are my friend and allowed to mess up. It happens. That's what being human is, you know."

"I'm also allowed to put your happiness as something I'm worried about," and he looked at Teddy.

"If you enjoy my company and want me to be around you, mindful of what might happen, that's fine. If you're doing it out of guilt or pity, that's another matter."

That earned him a thwap upside the head. Because Liir really needed one. "Do I seem like the type to hang out with because because of guilt? Or pity?"

He held his hand to the spot for a moment before Looking at Teddy.

"You're nice enough. How should I know."

He gave Liir a Look.

"I'm not, you dork. You're my friend and nothing is going to change that."

"Considering you haven't hugged me once since we started talking again, how should I know?"

He was only partially kidding.

That just got him yet another Look. "Dork."

"I call you dork in reply," he said imperiously. "In fact, I multiply it by dork, in your case."

...he's spent most of the morning with Ino. It's made him a bit more flippant.

"See?" Teddy asked, grinning. "No more weirdness."

He shuddered.

"I wish."

But he was content to leave that where it was.

"How have you been, otherwise?"

"Been better," Teddy admitted. "But now it's... better."

He gave a small smile.

"I'm glad. And I'm trying to make sure that, er, doesn't happen again."

"If you need help..." Teddy shuffled a bit awkwardly. "I don't know how I can help, but the offer is there."

"I'm going to ask Professor Ambrose about it tomorrow. He, er, might know. I don't know."

He has to do something. After that vision the other night, after Karal...

He breathed out.

"I just know it can't continue."

And there was that hug.

"You'll figure something out."

"Or I'll end up in a tower, alone and hated and get killed by a well meaning little girl at the height of my madness."

Amazing how some of our worst fears can come out in a half-joking tone in the middle of nowhere.
