Tamaki had arrived a little early in order to attempt beautifying the music room. It was nothing like the unused third music room at Ouran Academy, but he'd managed to dress it up a bit with several flower-filled vases. On a stray piano bench, he had placed a tray containing tea and finger foods just in case his future hosts got hungry. Snacks and tea were part of the Host Club ambience, although they were normally for the guests.

Once he was sure his hopefuls were about and had gotten comfy, he faced them with a huge grin, spreading his arms wide in a slightly over-dramatic gesture of welcome.

"Gentlemen," he said, his voice nearly quavering with excitement, "Welcome to the Fandom High School Host Club!" Lowering his arms once again, he began to pace back and forth, occasionally appraising his audience as he spoke. "If you are here, you have volunteered to donate your precious time to those who most deserve it: Lovely young ladies, who also have time, who will be here to see you. Yes, you!" He nodded for emphasis before resuming.

"Of course, there are certain requirements that one must have in mind when it comes to being a Host," he warned, his voice taking on a serious tone. "Each one of you must choose a 'type'. Why is that so important, you ask? Because, my dear Host Club hopefuls," he purred, wagging a finger at all of them, "Your 'type' is the very thing that defines your role as Host! Take me, for example. I am, as you can obviously see, a 'Prince Type'. I am handsome and romantic!" As if to prove this point he struck a regal pose and ran his fingers through his golden hair ~~in a shower of randomly materializing bishounen sparkles~~, grinning devastatingly at ~~the camera~~ no one in particular.

"Now, I would like each one of you to tell me what you think makes you stand out from the crowd. What are your talents and unique traits? How do your looks correlate with that? Do they fit well with the traits you have in mind? If you're going to say that you're the 'cool' type, then you'd better be looking cool. You cannot claim to be a certain type if you do not look the part! I cannot stress that enough!" He balled his right hand into a fist and slammed it into his other hand's open palm, seemingly glaring at his host hopefuls, but not actually being angry. In fact, a moment later, he was back to his cheery self.

"Lastly," he said jovially, "You are required to provide the young ladies with the answers they may wish to be hearing. Therefore, I shall be assessing your ability to entertain. Tell me: If a girl were to ask you something such as 'Why are you so gorgeous,' then what would your response be? Whatever you say reflects upon you as a host, so answer carefully." He gave them a stern look for about half a second, then returned to smiling. "That's all for now. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have."

Teddy looked uncomfortable about that. "Uh. Yeah. Sure."

He inclined his head a little, still smiling devilishly. "And what about your personality? Describe yourself."

"Kinda dorky?" Teddy was good at this, can you tell?

'Dorky' was not something that Tamaki would have considered to be a type. He rubbed his chin, staring at Teddy while he tried to figure out what on earth to base his decision on. "And...?"

"And...? Heroic?"

He was a super hero. Sometimes.

When he wasn't at school.

"And... heroic. You can look like anyone, but you're 'kinda dorky' and 'heroic'?" Tamaki raised an eyebrow, trying to put the pieces together. So far, they didn't quite click in his brain. How on earth would he think of a type that was shapeshifty, dorky and heroic??

Teddy just shrugged helplessly.

"Will it help that I'm an alien?"

Tamaki just stared. His mental processes had long ceased to function ~~and if one looked carefully there might very well have been smoke pouring out of his ears~~.

Teddy waved at him. "You okay?"

The staring continued, although some small part of Tamaki wanted to scream 'you're the Terrifying type' or something similar. However, his brain was still broken, so it was all he could do not to fall over. There had to be something he could classify Teddy as!

Teddy shuffled from one foot to the other. "Should I get someone to help?"

"Buh."

It was the best Tamaki could muster at the moment, although he really wanted to be able to name a 'type' that would best suit Teddy.

Teddy reached over to give him a pat on the arm. "Maybe some chocolate?"

Tamaki really liked chocolate. Chocolate was good. The pat on the arm, being tangible, managed to snap him out of his trance a little.

Coughing sharply, perhaps a little embarrassed, he pouted a little as he appraised Teddy once again.

"Let's try this: If I'm a 'Prince Type'," he posed glamorously to back up his claim, "Then you would say you are...?"

"Um, emperor?"

Oh yes, he was still good at this.

He only very slightly ground his teeth.

"I'm afraid there can only be one Host Club King," he said, smiling apologetically. "How about 'Versatile'? I would say 'Heroic,' but I will accept that only if you can give me an example of your heroism."

Teddy blinked, kinda amused that he wasn't allowed to use his real title.

"I once punched a troll, does that count?"

Tamaki laughed. "Are you willing to portray this image every time you're at the Host Club? It is part of you who are, and you must flaunt it to your designations!"

"Um..." That couldn't be hard, right? "Sure!"

"Then, my valiant friend," he grinned, "You are now known as the 'Heroic Type'! Be valiant and brave, for the sake of justice!" He struck a typical Tamaki-esque pose, incredibly pleased with himself.

...Teddy just nodded faintly. "Can do!"

"Excellent! Welcome to the Host Club!" He offered a hand for shaking.

"Thanks," Teddy said, taking his hand. "I think."
