Tactics 201, Thursday Period Two, 31/01

"Hey, kids."

Lieutenant Kerrigan was doing her utmost best not to run her hand repeatedly through her hair, standing in the middle of a simulated canyon in her Ghost outfit. "We were going to do a physical exercise today, but due to circumstances beyond my control, the planning has been altered slightly. We'll be running another simulated exercise today.

"Having dealt with defensive fortification last week, we'll be working on our offense this time. You're to team up in groups of two-- one of you will be driving a Vulture cycle, which aren't hard to master, but I'd advise anyone with motorbike experience to choose this option to make it easier on your classmates, while the other uses four NPC Marines around the canyon walls to try to take the Vulture out. Vulture drivers, your job's to get to the flashing signal at the end of the canyon."

When in doubt, go with class plans a colleague came up with. "Good hunting."

Jen's really hoping this class today will make up for yesterday's aggravation, and the prospect of getting to do something physical, something she knows how to do, has her cheered up enough to grin back at him.

"I'll dodge," Bridge says, looking over the Vulture cycle appreciatively. "Uh, listen," he says. "I, um. Heard your discussion with Kabuto yesterday. And just... thanks."

Jen gives him a brief and slightly awkward nod as she finishes fastening up her grey-and-pink armor. "I had to," she says simply.

"Ready?" Bridge asks, hopping in to the driver's seat of the cycle.

Jen shoulders her rifle and nods to her Marines, but she can't help a tiny sigh; this isn't exactly the team she wanted to lead.

"Okay, I want you over there; you, take your station down at that end. You two --" She beckons the last two Marines closer and murmurs something to them, then gestures sharply with her free hand. "Okay, let's move."

"Good luck, Bridge," she adds.
