Tactics 201, Thursday Period Two, 31/01

"Hey, kids."

Lieutenant Kerrigan was doing her utmost best not to run her hand repeatedly through her hair, standing in the middle of a simulated canyon in her Ghost outfit. "We were going to do a physical exercise today, but due to circumstances beyond my control, the planning has been altered slightly. We'll be running another simulated exercise today.

"Having dealt with defensive fortification last week, we'll be working on our offense this time. You're to team up in groups of two-- one of you will be driving a Vulture cycle, which aren't hard to master, but I'd advise anyone with motorbike experience to choose this option to make it easier on your classmates, while the other uses four NPC Marines around the canyon walls to try to take the Vulture out. Vulture drivers, your job's to get to the flashing signal at the end of the canyon."

When in doubt, go with class plans a colleague came up with. "Good hunting."

[ wait for the ocd up! ]

Well, it was still entirely possible that Seely would crash into a wall before he got to the end of the canyon, given the way he was steering.

Mostly to get as far away from Triela as he could.

Triela wasn't getting desperate exactly, but her shots were becoming a bit rushed. Fortunately for Seely that meant less accuracy. Unfortunately for Seely it meant a lot more stuff to dodge.

She could really use that ambush she failed to plan about now.

And look, there was the end signal flashy thing! Yay!

Pity Seely was just that little bit too distracted by all the bullets to hit the brakes in time to avoid clipping the canyon wall and flipping the bike.

Whoops.

The flipping bike didn't make Triela feel any better about losing, but she had to admit that it was pretty spectacular. She slung her rifle over her shoulder and jogged toward the crash sight to see if her partner had survived his victory.

Seely was very glad of Danger Shop safeties and his armour right now. But the time Triela got there he was shaking his head and debating whether to try to sit up or not.

"You're crazy," she laughed delightedly. "Only a maniac would go that fast."

Seely beamed broadly at her as he sat up. "That was fun."

Yes, even the being shot at.

"I didn't know that thing would go so fast," she complained. "And I can't believe you went that long without wiping out."

"Neither can I," Seely admitted. "But at least next time you'll know," he pointed out.

"Yeah," Triela agreed. "Next time I'll just put a bomb on the bike or something."

Seely thought about it moment. "Wired to the ignition or speedometer?"
