My Country - Week 3 - Friday Period 3

Arashi waited until everyone was inside and seated before he started speaking. “So, today we’re going to work on the topography and geography of your countries. Decide what geographical features you want your country to have, where important cities are, roads and etc.”

“Bear in mind that climate can be affected by geography and such, so you’ll want to think over were you put things. Also, if you’re adding a mountain range or a river try talking with your neighboring countries to see if it’s something that crosses your borders. Now you’re not limited to mountains and rivers, there are lakes, plateaus, plains, swamps, forests, giant holes in the ground, caves, lagoons, volcanoes, beaches. Whatever you guys can think of. Have fun with it, since that’s the point of designing your own counties, we’ll get into the serious stuff later.”

There might have been a sly smirk on his face, but that had nothing to do with the fact that it was his birthday and that he felt confident that he'd kept the fact from people.

Ohhh rivers and canyons and lake, oh my!

There were copies of maps for people to draw in what they wanted.

If you want to extend something outside the borders work with the neighboring countries!

He smiled slightly to himself. Another year older and life wasn't bad.

Demyx!

Demyx wanted to make his country with lots of lakes and rivers, but had "seasonal drought" to contend with. He might have to settle for awesome beaches instead.

Mikey!

Mikey looked at his wee little country long and hard.

And then decided that his best course of action was going to be to decorate his country like a pizza. Pepperoni circles for lakes, a couple of chocolate bars over there could totally be caves, maybe some shrimp-y shapes for hills, and, of course, a giant hole in the ground. Where he had taken a bite.

If his country was actually pizza, of course.

There was a husbandly type person there after class.

Being all... husbandly. Which Deadpool was pleased to find didn't set off the spell check so it HAD to be a real word.

"Birthday boy!"

Teddy!

Teddy had those volcanoes to deal with, but he was sure it could be like Hawaii and part of the environment in a minimal way.

Teddy was kinda special sometimes.

Makoto!

Trees. Makoto thought firmly. Lots and lots of trees - they'd help keep the ground from shifting as much during his earthquakes, right? Well, hopefully.

He hadn't kept the fact that it was his birthday from all people, but then again, Ino only knew 'cause her Dad had told her.

Nonetheless, she was waiting right after class with a neatly wrapped present in her arms. "Yondaime-sama?"

Alex!

Alex was happy with creating her country's map. Of course, it had the right amount of forests and lakes, but there were also locations marked for a few cities and malls.

Hey, shopping was important, okay?

Alex was liking the sound of that. She had a feeling she was going to have fun making up her country.

Neville Longbottom

Still younger than Wade XP

"How did you find that out?" He blinked.

He really failed at being a ninja.

"Ahh hello Ino."

"Well, we've been married since the summer and it wasn't then, so..." A beat. "Aly is tricksy and has ways."

Cimorene of Linderwall

Cimorene was bent over her map, drawing in details.

She grinned at him. "Happy Birthday, Yondaime-sama!"

Doctor Doom

Doom put a mountain range all along the perimeter of his country. They didn't stretch into other countries. It stayed perfectly within his borders.

There were also forest areas and some rivers.

"technically since late spring," he smirked and shook his head as soon as he mentioned Aly. "I shoulda known the tricksy spy would have. Well thank you for wishing me a happy birthday," Arashi smiled and leaned in to give Wade a chaste kiss on the cheek.

"Thank you Ino," he smiled shyly. "Did you dad tell you when it was?"

"Not just that! We--" He paused for drama. "Are taking you tot he mainland for the evening!"

"Dad has the best timing ever," she said, which probably answered the question well enough, "and this is for you." Ino offered him the neatly wrapped package.

Arashi couldn't help but chuckle. "Not always, as I'm sure you've found," he smirked. "Oh thank you, can I open it?"

"Oh?" He said suddenly suspicious. "...For what?"

"I'm not sure what exactly, but Aly has these plans and I'm assured they involve alcohol."

She stared at him incredulously. "What kind of a present would it be if you couldn't open it? Open it, open it!"

Inside he'd find an album absolutely filled with ~~entirely handwavy zomg~~ pictures of Naruto growing up.

"Alcohol is good," Arashi nodded. "Food too?"

Wade nodded slowly. "I'm pretty sure of the hot wing variety."

Arashi could old stare in shock at the album and the pictures inside.

His eyes might have looked a little glassy, but the ninja hid it well. "Wow Ino, I don't know how to thank you. It's great! Where did you get all the pictures?"

"Dad did most of it," Ino said, looking down and smiling at her feet, "I don't know who took the pictures though." There'd been a lot more than she'd thought there would be.

Arashi hugged her tightly. "Thank you Ino, it really means a lot to me to have this."

She hugged him back. "I'm glad," Ino said, "that you're happy with it. I can probably tell you about a few of them, sometime." She had, after all, been in his class. "If you'd like me to, that is."

Arashi laughed. "Sure! I'd be glad to hear any embaressing stories."

Jack Burton!

Jack started setting up the geowhatevery. Some lakes, plenty of fresh water lakes. Some mountains, small ones. Hills, even. And beaches. And cliffs. And more beaches. And some forts, from all the fighting. Which were also bed and breakfasts when they weren't all fighty.
