Library [18/01]

Karal was smiling as he arrived at the library, Altra trotting at his heels.

He unlocked the doors, made sure the librarian's office was tidy, and did a quick round to make sure everything was in order before settling in at the counter with a cup of tea and a purring Firecat.

"Everything's great," Bridge confirms. He sets the box, which contains a half-dozen chocolate cupcakes, down on the counter. "I just- I wanted to thank you for covering for me on such short notice."

Karal smiled at him. "Truly, it's wasn't a worry. The library is my second favourite place on the island, so I was happy to do so. I'm just glad that everything is well."

He peered at the box curiously (and maybe a little hungrily. He really should have had breakfast).

"Me too, dude," Bridge nods. "Uh, to all of that, actually. I'm pretty fond of this place myself. And, um. Those are for you. Because even if it wasn't a bother, it was still, you know, the whole day and everything and so... chocolate. For you. As a thanks," he slides the box over.

"Thank you! You didn't have to, but thank you." His stomach chose that moment to rumble and he looked vaguely embarrassed. "I neglected to have breakfast this morning."

"Well, see, it all worked out, because now you *do* have breakfast!" Bridge says with a grin. "Of course, it's possibly not the most healthy of breakfasts, but you can always balance that out with something healthy later, and all," Bridge waves a hand vaguely.

"It did!" Karal opened the box and sniffed appreciatively, before turning it towards Bridge. "And I can. Will you have one?"

"The day I turn down chocolate is the day something is very, very wrong," Bridge replies by way of an answer.

"And this is definitely not a day for wrongness." Karal picked a cupcake out of the box and grinned. "It can't be, when it begins with these."
