Criminal Justice (As Taught By A Criminal) - Period 3 - Monday 01/14

Why yes, yes Deadpool was sitting on the desk again today. But there were other things on the desk. Like a camera and a lot of paper. And ink.

Weird, no?

"Morning kids! Today we're learning about something very fun. Booking procedure. Or, ya know, the fun bits of it to me at least. Who wants to learn about lots and lots of paperwork, after all? Bo~oring!"

Hopping off the desk, he started to pace in front of the class.

"First up today is the mugshot. Or, as I like to call it, the best way to make or break a career in Hollywood by looking like a homeless heroin addict!" Deadpool shook his head sadly. "No one wants to end up lookin' like Nick Nolte or Hugh Grant, so I suggest practicing your look before they actually toss you in to get that picture taken. It'll be like modeling! With police! And crimes!"

Really.

Just like it.

"And second! Fingerprints. Which is just code for letting you kids run wild and free with paper and ink. Because no one really cares about learning about whirls and all stuff. You just want to get straight to the finding your classmates' finger prints so you can see if they're stealing food from the common rooms. Isn't that right? For shame, common room food stealer. Just go to Turtle&Canary and buy your own."

"Last of all!" He bounced on his heels, looking at the class. "Haley Joel, English Petey... Welcome to being my TAs. I expect you to rule with an iron fist."

Well, it had been on its way to not having crime, at least, and then the whole mess with Ransik had happened.

Luckily, she hadn't mentioned the retina-scanning. They still did that, and it was quite possibly even freakier since it was completely devoid of the red-laser light show, or even any sound.

"It's not that great, honestly," she admitted.

Well...Chad wasn't going to say anything, but...

He gave Jen a tiny, apologetic sort of smile. "Sounds kinda boring, really."

Jen reached for the ink pad and rolled her thumb across it, experimentally, then transferred the print to the paper -- which got another slight grin out of her.

"It really kind of was. I like it here a lot more."

"Nice one," Chad said, complimenting the fingerprint. It really was a good one, he felt. "And, yeah. Here is great. I think it's probably my favourite outta all the places I've lived."

"Yeah?" Jen glanced sidelong at him, then tried again with her index finger. "How many places have you lived?"

"About...four now," Chad said. "Including here. Which I guess isn't much, but it's been pretty, uhhh....globe spanning. Born in Japan, moved to Mexico. Back to Japan, and now here, in the States."

"More places than I've been," Jen assured him. "There was Millennium City, then Silver Hills --" this with notable wistfulness -- "and now here."

"Only one more," Chad pointed out, "and Japan was twice, although it was different places in Japan."

"Yeah," Jen said, her brow furrowed in concentration as she inked and printed the rest of her right hand. "But you live in the fun millennium."

And that definitely earned a quirked eyebrow. "...the fun millennium?" He looked at the fingerprint kit, wondering if it was the source of such a title. "What millennium are from that, err, isn't...the fun one?"

Well, it was part of the fun, sure.

"The next one?" she offered. "I didn't want to assume you were from right now."

Re: Taking Prints

"Oh, no," Chad assured her. "I am. Kinda rare around here, though, I guess."

"I'm getting that impression," Jen told him. "I'm also getting the impression that normality's kind of rare around here, too."

Re: Taking Prints

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
That got a nod and a confirming grunt out of Chad. "Pretty much, yeah. I'm on the normal side myself, but even I've got this weird spirit force thing. There's a few people, though, that don't have any powers or things like that. You got any? I mean, other than being from the future or anything?"

Jen hesitated and glanced at the Chronomorpher on her wrist. "My friend Katie's the one whose parents had her genetically engineered to have super strength, but . . . sort of? I don't know if now's the time to talk about it, but I guess I do."

Re: Taking Prints

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
"You gu--" But, processing that perhaps Jen might not feel this was the place, Chad cut himself off with a grunt and a nod. "Yeah," he said. "Should fit in okay, then."

Re: Taking Prints

Jen looked up at him -- way, way up -- and smiled. "Thanks."
