TACTICS 201, THURSDAY PERIOD 2, 01/10

The Danger Shop was neutral, for the moment. Just an empty expanse of nothingness that seemed to go on forever in all directions. In the center stood Sarah Kerrigan, decked out in her Ghost suit and armed with a simulated canister rifle. "Hey, kids. Welcome to Tactics 201, you probably know the drill by now. I'm Lieutenant Kerrigan; you can address me as Lieutenant or sir, depending on which works for you. Some of you'll have been in my previous class, in which case-- welcome back, I hope you had a good break and, yes, Booth if he's there, didn't get killed."

She rolled her eyes.

"This term, we'll be dealing in bigger terms. Where I come from, war's divvied up in macro and micro-- micro being what we covered last term, the art of maneuvering up close. Macro's the name of the game this term: managing your troops on a bigger scale. We'll be dealing with a bunch of modules, which might be familiar to some of you..."

She trailed off for a moment, staring out into the class, looking a little lost. "...but we'll cover that next week when I finish your syllabus."

Another hesistant pause, and then she slammed a button, warping the surroundings to give way to cliffs, dried-out ground and the shapes of large metal buildings all around, some blue emeralds shimmering on the ground up ahead. "I'll," she paused again, "I'll be dealing with a couple other universes during this term if it's requested or I find it potentially interesting, but the baseline is still what I'm used to. Most of our lessons are going to be stuff that branches out everywhere."

She stepped towards the class. "Before you guys get to take a look around, I'll do the usual and get name, experience and your favored shade of armor. I'll even let you guys tape on stickers this time if you want." It was a tried and trusted motivational tool. Really.

[ wait for the ocd up! ]

Triela didn't know the drill, but she could follow instructions.

"I'm Triela." She frowned at the armor, then at the terrain around here. She caught Kerrigan's eye, "Which one of these will provide the best camoflauge?"

"Gavin Darklighter," he started, "from Tatooine. I'm a pilot, X-Wings, specifically and I've got just about a year with Rogue Squadron which is part of the the Republic's military. As for armor, I'd like dark green."

"Seely Booth, from Pittsburgh," Seely said. "My experience is mostly classes like this, so not really. I'll take dark grey armour this class."

"I'm Prue Halliwell, from San Francisco," she said. "I don't have much military experience but I have fought a lot of demons in my day. As for armor I'd like black, if possible."

Sky respectfully saluted Lt. Kerrigan, figuring that was most appropriate in accordance with her rank and with the very nature of the class.

"I'm Sky Tate, professor," he introduced himself. "I've been training with the intergalactic police force Space Patrol Delta for over 3 years now. My preferred armor color would be... dark red."

Jen had done a number of similar drills at TF Academy, just not in this kind of armor; this would be interesting, she thought.

"Jen Scotts, Millennium City, Earth," she said going with a fanon name for the otherwise unnamed city. "If there's anything in a mostly dark matte grey with dark pink accents maybe, subtle ones, I'll go for that."

Would most people think this was an odd combination? Yes, most likely. Did Jen? No, not so much. Of course, she was also at least somewhat practical, so . . .

"Barring that, just matte grey works."

There were memories of Manticore flashing through her mind. Why had she thought signing up for this class was a good idea? When it was her turn for the introductions, there was a pause before she spoke because she very nearly rattled off her designation. "I'm Max Guevara," she said. "I... spent some time in a military school." It was close enough to the truth, she figured. "I'd like gray armor please."

"I'm Zuko, crown prince to the Fire Nation," Zuko said. "I've had experience commanding troops."

He frowned a little at the armour. "Red," he replied, "but that's too bulky. It will encumber me more than protect me."

"I'm Sokka, I rock ya, you know me, you love me, check me out!"

Sokka grinned. "I'm a warrior of my tribe, and although I never saw guns before coming to Fandom, I'm a quick learner. Lemme at them Zergs!"

He bounced up out of his seat. This was by far and away his most favorite class. "I'll take some ice blue armor, please."

"Peter Pevensie," Peter said with a bow to Kerrigan. "I've had experience commanding troops, yes. And blue again, please?"

"I'm Liz Sherman," Liz said, "I'm from New Jersey, I don't really have any military experience and for armor I'd prefer black,"

River fell silent, looking at Kerrigan. "I'm River," she said. "Black armor."
