Advanced Negotiations

Sorry for my short absence last week. I was called to do some advanced negotiations of my own because Mace Windu parked in Chancellor Palpatine’s spot. Again.

So, as I have to catch up, let’s catch up on some real life events. The zombie attack of last month. Which methods did you feel worked best to thin the zombie horde. Which did you feel were least effective. What sort of preparedness would you have in case this happens again?

[identity profile] blueskin-mystiq.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Mystique thinks about it a moment. "Sneak attacks and ambush were not very useful. More like huge amounts of force. Bulldozers. Or the Tick. Preparedness. Some seemed smarter than others, but a lot were just dumb. Maybe get people in one place and make access to it difficult, while scouts find out what got them moving?"

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Shooting them in the head worked best. That and watering them down apparently. Least effective? Glaring and scathing sarcasm. Didn't do a thing.

Next time? Keep the brain-eating rotted flesh-bags away from the school. And if yu must bring them here? Tell everyone to aim for the head and keep the orange dude away from the water.

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Again? Stupid Master Windu. He should know better, even if his ride is totally better than Palpatine's. It just leads to tears and pain.

Numbers and ingenuity really helped us, I believe, after students who didn't know what zombies were were made aware of their weaknesses and how they could be killed. Having different zones of weapondry also kept the zombies guessing, if they had brains to guess with. They didn't know what would hit them on the perimeter with the magical students and Professor Tick, and had a variety of surprises in store for them in the library as well. I think that the flooding of the school, while useful in the short term, has left us with the smell of zombie bits far longer than strictly necessary.

Next time? Roughly the same tactics, which will be able to be implemented more quickly now that everyone knows what to expect.

*shudders* And I'll avoid eating yearbook food. *smiles hopefully at Padmé*

Throwing coffee--the liquid--not so effective either. Beaning them with the cans from a couple stories up worked rather well, though.

Guess improvisation is always important in the heat of battle. You go to war with the canned goods you have and all that.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
You threw coffee at them? Don't ever let the Librarian hear you say that. Or Doc. Or anyone in Classics come to think of it. Or that Jake girl. She might hurt you.

Improv is always a good thing, unless you're a mime. Or a brain surgeon.

*Wallace is here, but silent because he did not participate in zombie-hunting/fighting*

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't throw coffee. I like the stuff. Some of my best friends are addicts, etc. I haven't been on speaking terms with it since it turned me into my worst enemy through the evilness of the yearbook food, but I can understand other beings' attachment to it.

Someone else threw coffee fighting zombies in one of the diners. And got lectured about inappropriate wasting of resources for it, too.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Rory chooses not to volunteer an answer, as the majority of zombie-fighting she participated in took place while she thought she was someone else.

Except, of course, for that damn frying pan thing.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well that's okay then. Poor cans though.

[identity profile] 02maxwell.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Gotta agree with you there. Headshots sure took those suckers down fast! Not to mention that was way more fun than waterin' 'em. The boiling water wasn't too bad, though that sure made a helluva mess...

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You were one of the ones who ate it? Have you learned nothing from this school? Never eat the food. Ever.

Well as long as they were properly lectured I guess it's okay. Ish.

I don't think I caught your name the first time we talked, Jack O'neill.

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Screw the mess, I had to swim through that crap. No way was I getting on a giant snake. Uh-uh.

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I figured in a decision between the proven scariness of the cafeteria and the unknown quality of the yearbook food, I'd go for the unknown.

I've since been eating only things that I've been importing from home. Lesson well learned.

Anakin Skywalker. It's nice to meet you.

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[OOC: And the coffee, which is still among my favorite things from Zombie Weekend.]

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Being hurled at the undead?

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[ooc: Ah, but that was Lorelai. Rory will admit to hitting people with frying pans and forks, but shan't take responsibility for her own mother's idiocy when it comes to caffeine.]

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
The priorities around here. Crispy flaming zombies now or rum and cokes that we might not survive to drink later? I'll go with the dead zombies.

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[OOC: *headdesk* I knew that. Bah. *plays Taps for the coffee, gone before its time.]

[identity profile] 2ls-in-oneill.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'd hope that would teach you something. There's hope for you yet.

Anakin huh? Nice name. Where're you from?

[OOC: The lack of ability to comment or mae jokes is completely killing me. *Useless now*]

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been told the correct response around here is "a galaxy far, far away." Same time period as Professor Amidala. Originally from a little spit of a planet called Tatooine, but I've been living on Coruscant for the past eight years or so. When I wasn't off on other planets with my old teacher conducting advanced negotiations, that is.

[OOC: Hee. I know!]

[identity profile] pure-blooddraco.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I wasn't involved in the zombie fight here but I was involved in a fight of my own that weekend. When fighting with inferi I find that fire is usually the best thing to keep them away from you. And to kill, aim for the head. That works best.
And next time? I hope to God there isn't a next time. If there is grab a cricket bat and whack those bastards in the head.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-10-03 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally, I found out that to fight en masse zombies, Cally's flamethrower was extremely handy. It's just too bad she forgot to wear any gloves. I ended up using a plain sword because it was a lot easier than constantly having to reload a shotgun in the middle of a crowd. I must add that the shotgun was very effective to blow up the lone zombie.

In the grand scheme of things, I think Ash's decision to head to the dorm tower and eliminate the source of the zombies was the most effective.

Least effective? I think negotation wouldn't have helped much in this instance. They'd just eat your brain while you're talking to them.

A sort of alarm would be nice to alert the students and I think the lifting of the weapons ban with restrictions is a good idea as well.
